Installed UNraid recently and plex keeps buffering on a single CPU Intel® Xeon® CPU E5-2620 v4 @ 2.10GHz with 32GB ram. Is this not fast enough?
depends what kind of video you’re going to play on which client.
the Xeon is fast but it only supports limited hw transcoding of videos and I’m not even sure if Plex will use the hw transcoding on a Xeon.
what kind of video are you trying to play?
- some 1080p content or a 4K video?
- h264 or h265 encoded?
your CPU might do ok with h264 but not with h265 encoded content. for h265 videos it’ll probably do a software transcode (bare CPU powered)… this should work fine with 1080p content as your CPU is fast enough – 4K content with a high bitrate might be too much.
Per https://ark.intel.com/products/92986/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E5-2620-v4-20M-Cache-2_10-GHz
This processor does not support Quick Sync Video (QSV) and is not capable of hardware transcoding
in that case I’ve been looking at the wrong source… sorry for the confusion.
