Plex media scanner from the command line returns an empty set

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488
Ubuntu 18.04

Found the this link looking for a method for scanning/updating my media library via the command line.

Running a test case returned an error message with a version of the following:

plex media scanner error open shared object no such file or directory

After doing some searching I found this and implemented the link to libraries and while the error went away, running any of the basic commands didn’t return anything:

chris@chris-X1C6:/usr/lib/plexmediaserver$ /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Plex\ Media\ Scanner -l
chris@chris-X1C6:/usr/lib/plexmediaserver$ /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Plex\ Media\ Scanner -a
chris@chris-X1C6:/usr/lib/plexmediaserver$

I also tried exporting the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable as described, and added it to the /etc/default/plexmediaserver file, with no effect.

Any thoughts on what else may be missing.

Many thanks,
Chris
