New scanner is here and available to Plex Pass members. It’s significantly different, so it’s worth trying just so you can give feedback. Perhaps especially if your filesystem layout is “complicated”.
I think this is something Plex could improve multiple aspects of. I’m impressed how good Plex’s debug logging is, and how it generally does include everything necessary to diagnose problems. But it’s not always easy to see what Plex is doing when everything is working.
Richer CLI/progress output would be nice. I imagine only a small number of us are calling the Scanner from the CLI. I’m sure even API users are much more common than CLI users.
It would also be nice to see overall library progress for things like video preview thumbnails, deep analysis, intro detection. Knowing that an intro detection session is active isn’t as useful as knowing that it’s on the 713th with 7 more to go.
