Plex Media Server 1.20.2.3402

Is this the release that requires the latest Nvidia driver 450.66 for NVENC to function properly?

If yes, I’m stuck with the previous Plex Server release then and can’t update any longer. Unraids current Nvidia release is stuck on an older driver and it does not look as if we’ll see a new stable release soon.

Hi there, I think there is a LSIO Unraid Nvidia update if you run 6.9 beta 29

Otherwise you will need to stay on the older PMS docker release until the 3rd party Nvidia driver plug-in has a new driver package

That means: Yes, latest Nvidia driver required for NVENC. Got it. Thanks.

I know about the Unraid beta, but beta is no option here. BTW, that beta is running since March. Don’t expect to see stable release “soon”.

Will stop upgrading Plex Server and stay on the one before this latest release.

Sorry to intrude in a docker/unraid thread, @chrisallen but does this also apply to Windows? 1.20.1.3252 is the latest version with working NVENC for me and I’m probably stuck since I’m still running win 8.1 and the latest P2000 driver is 436.30.

Hi there, the Nvidia 450.66 driver requirement is Linux specific and doesn’t apply to Windows at this stage.

Ok thanks. I’ll try to post logs in my own thread tagged with windows server when I got time cause NVENC is not working there either with newer versions of plex combined with older driver.

use Unraid 6.9.0.beta30, it’s the good version for Plex Media Server 1.20.2.3402

Beta software is no option here.

It’s in the Unraid Nvidia app, just select 6.9.0.beta30 in the Nvidia Unraid Builds, wait for download & install, then reboot.

it’s reversible and it will not affect your apps, dockers, VM and settings…

You didn’t understand what I wrote. We don’t install beta software in our environment.

then your only option will be to wait next stable release and hope it will be the 6.9.0…

I do not expect a stable Unraid 6.90 soon and I doubt LSIO will bring the latest NVIDIA driver to Unraid 6.83.

So, no, we don’t update the Plex server for a very long time.

A stable Unraid is way more important here than the latest Plex Server. Plex is just one small component in a bunch of Dockers, VMs and other services.
