Plex Media Server downloads page no longer shows checksums!

During the past few months, the Plex Media Server downloads page no longer shows checksums for most platforms. In fact, it seems like only the default platform shows a checksum. If you select any other platform, there is no checksum.

For instance, if you go to the downloads page and select Synology (DSM 7), the Show Checksums link toggles to Hide Checksums when clicked, but no checksum is shown.

I have verified this issue with Firefox and Safari with content blockers disabled. The HTML element (a div element with class="release-hash") is completely missing from the page.

It looks like the HTML tags are actually there but empty.
I’ve forwarded this to Plex. Though it’s not really a feature suggestion, therefore moving it to a different category.

Ok, this is confusing…

I just went back to the downloads page to see if I could determine the URL path to the download I wanted (in case there was a directory with a checksum file in it), and after selecting Synology (DSM 7) from the list, the Download button changed to a Choose Package button, which when clicked showed a list of variants with checksums:

I could swear that the first time I viewed the page this morning the button said Downloads and clicking it downloaded what I guess is the Intel 32-bit variant without showing any checksum…

hmm…
I think it kind of makes sense not to show a single checksum entry for platforms with different downloads. Still a bit confusing – maybe the show checksums button can be placed on the actual download section pane.

Ok this server is definitely playing tricks on me.

I just went back to look at the page again, and after selecting Synology (DSM 7) and clicking Choose Package the checksums are missing there too:

Anyway thanks for forwarding this to the Plex team, @tom80H. :slightly_smiling_face::+1:t3:

In your last screenshot, did you ever click “Show Checksums” again (your screenshot suggests not)? You need to click “Show Checksums” before clicking “Choose Package.” The page will remember that you clicked it so subsequent selections will show checksums if selected. At least that’s how it behaves on my systems. If it doesn’t for you, you likely need to ensure that you have no extensions enabled which futz with cookies and such.

You’re right. Doing that fixed it.

It’s not at all clear that you need to click that button before selecting a version to download.

This interface really could be improved. If you ask me, it would much simpler just to always display the checksum and get rid of the show/hide buttons altogether.

Anyway, thanks! I hope the Plex team will consider simplifying the interface!
