Plex Media Server Manager .NET

Very true :D

Thnx for the clear awnser means I won't have to waste any more time searching for a solution to get it out of the API aswel. I will build it without preloading for now then and see where I will get.

Thnx again for the help!

Small update, getting really close to a first release. Will be a browse only release but would like some feedback on responsiveness etc. Don’t expect any functionality. I would have released it earlier today but it seems to crash on any other plex server than mine so until I track down what causes it there is not much to do.

On the bright side I sorted out all the slow loading problems and still managed to keep sync with plex server. First time application starts it takes about 90 seconds for stuff to get prepopulated after that its instant every time and updates it in the background (again within 90 seconds on my setup). How? in short: a serializer, multi threaded approach for sorting out the updates later.

Stay tuned

Can’t wait to play with it, even if it’s in read-only … err view-only mode.

Whether it’s slow as molasses or as fast as a lightning stike, we’ll let you know :stuck_out_tongue:

Going to bed now, I hope to add the content for viewing metadata for series and movies tomorrow, and hopefully at least for movies allow matching inside of the manager. What would really help is if people would be so kind to supply some xml files from their plex server so I can squash some bugs.

What would really help me out a long way is 1/2 people to send me their xml files from their plex media server so I can run them through the program for potential anomalies that I don’t have in my PMS.

  1. Start with going to and saving the file, then node down the id;s per section (this is the key variable)

http://REPLACE_ME_WITH_IP:YOUR_PORT/library/sections/

for each section load the following pages and store them so I can import them:

http://REPLACE_ME_WITH_IP:YOUR_PORT/library/sections/REPLACE_ME_WITH_ID_OF_SECTION/all<br />
http://REPLACE_ME_WITH_IP:YOUR_PORT/library/sections/REPLACE_ME_WITH_ID_OF_SECTION/search?type=4<br />
http://REPLACE_ME_WITH_IP:YOUR_PORT/library/sections/REPLACE_ME_WITH_ID_OF_SECTION/allLeaves

Thnx in advance, side note these may take a bit of time in your browser no worries that is normal

Here’s my Windows home server info, for “section 1”

Here’s “section 2” tv series - “section 1” being movies

Perfect will try to load them now sort out the issues then i’ll publish my current release and if you could give it a go see if it then works for your PMS that would be great. If it doesn’t then I know its caused by something else.

@mauirixxx Checked your xml and it runs fine on my end, so would be a great help if I can get you to try to install the application and run it against your PMS see if you run into the same issues other people are. Rest of you feel free to test it aswell but no guarantees it works (yet :P)

Very first version is up: please don’t expect it to work! mauirixxx If you can give it a go, as it SHOULD work on yours, if not there is a bug I don’t know about!

Connected up to my PMS just fine, picked up my “Movies, Music, TV Shows” just fine, and I can see everything. Very quickly I might add.

Right now, at the bottom it says “Status: refreshing seasons”

When I click on any movie or TV show, I have 0 art and no loaded metadata.

I’m assuming the search box (I assume that IS a search box? :stuck_out_tongue: ) isn’t implemented yet?

Oh and I love the fact that it keeps my sort order as how I set it up on the server (for example my Resident Evil collection).

Looking good so far though! Will let it sit and refresh, and check on it in an hour.

it won't refresh on a schedule yet, ya need to force a manual refresh using the top actions menu. The rest you state is all correct / broken or needs work (the status :P) Have mostly reworked my code today and messed around with adding sections from the application. At the moment I am building the form for displaying a movie. I hope to have another release up tomorrow or so but I gotta go back to work so don't have hours of time sadly until next weekend.

I shall patiently await until next weekend, and give you a good harassing then

Small update on what is going on in the few hours I have free after work. I started reworking the datamodel to better fit the project. Additionally I now have very basic test pages for series and movies. I also felt like messing with Json to incorperate the trakt API. Last but not least I have been experimenting with how the API requests should be send for best performance.

Bottomline a little bit of everything, starting tomorrow night I will focus on getting a release ready with hopefully a full “view” client.

Stay tuned

Sadly I am in charge of a exchange migration this weekend so didn’t get a hell of a lot done yet. Mostly working on the Model for movies figuring out how I want the view movie page setup. I hope to finish work early tomorrow and have some matching magic in there.

Also feel free to try it out yourself:

Its not stable yet though so expect crashes.

Downloading it now, will check it out later tonight when I get time - I must say I can't wait to play with it though, even if it's on the crash happy side :D

I got lucky with my Exchange migration - I only had to move 15 of us from 2003 to 2010 - I miss the hardware requirements of 2003 (ran it in a dual cpu VM with 2gb ram for years), but I love the webmail side of 2010, it's damn nice :D Hope everything migrates smoothly :P

Just got done with work got a few more free hours today but I dont think I can build in the matching system this weekend.

Small update as I know some of you are pretty eager to try it and start managing. This week and last weekend were crazy busy at work. Tomorrow night, sat and Sunday I have reserved to bring PMM .NET to a limited but functional state. Meaning you can match movies and series.

Excellent, I can’t wait

EDIT: Stuff I noticed

I can’t seem to get out of “Status: refreshing seasons”

Clicking on a tv episode does nothing

TV series are out of order

Is this all known … bugs?

Yea it is  thnx though.

Hi y00sh00,

unfortunately your manager doesn’t work for me.

It starts, connects to the PMS, refreshes the sections and displays the list of movies in the left explorer - So good so fine.

In the status line it still says: “status: episodes refreshing” (I don’t have any episodes)

But, as I click on one movie to show the details page, the prog. scrashes with the following messages:

I'm running Win7 Enterprise with all updates.

Do you have any idea?

Is there any other progress on this media manager? The start look promising;-)

All the best
