Plex Media Server running on Apple Silicon M1 chipset i.e. new Mac mini, MacBook, etc

Mine is doing the same thing, cang figure out why

Have you tried the Universal build currently in testing?

Good luck

Chris

I have not, since Im afraid of breaking it completely with beta software. I’ll hang tight on that upgrade until after it’s released and the dust has settled.

For some reason the beta version is not appearing with my Plex pass button turns on. It shows the same version as 1.27.1.5916. Is there another place to download the beta?

Doh. I see that 5916 IS the new native version for M1. No change with the problem, it just logged me out the finder again, and of course that boots out Plex as well. I really don’t want to upgrade to Monterey if I don’t have a compelling reason to do so. I don’t know what to try next.

No. It’s a separate preview download that was already linked to above.

Looks like it was just released to the “normal” beta channel Plex Media Server - #518 by drzoidberg33

It was released to the main beta channel earlier this week already, the new one is just a hotfix.

Oh nice, I didn’t even see that previous announcement. I’m glad to finally see the Apple Silicon support making its way to official release.

It appears the Version 1.28.0.5999 was released to the main channel today and according to the release notes, this contained the native support for Apple Silicon chipsets.

The above notwithstanding, I tried this version against the original media files I had posted about, 4K releases with subtitle language tracks, and I continue to see the momentary buffering issues when I engage that subtitle track, but not for anything else. I also don’t see any appreciable relief of this issue by adjusting any of the transcoding settings, including turning off the HD Tone Mapping pieces as had been suggested earlier.

Happy to provide system logs or try other pieces if someone has a different experience that avoids the buffering, but as of now…still looking for a solution.
