Plex NFO Agent Forum Preview

@drzoidberg33 THANK YOU! I have been waiting for over a decade for this feature. I have some questions/feature requests for your implementation (fellow dev here).

Q01: Regarding collections, I know you said this is coming in a future update. I have an extensive curated list of collections. Items can appear in one or more collections. Will your support for collection tags accommodate cross collections? For example, Alien Expanded Universe, Predator, Alien Vs Predator. AVP would fit into all 3 of these collections. May we have more than one collection in the NFO?

Q02: Is there any possible way to support collection posters/fanart? I have an extensive “Collections” folder structure with each collection having their own folder with unique and sometimes custom poster.jpg and fanart.jpg specific to each collection within. Is there any way to read these local files in via paths, similar to what others have been suggesting for an actors path? Set a master collections path, match the collection folder name to the collection tag, and then import these in recursively and automatically?

Q03: With regard to Labels, I use Plex Labels extensively to control access to library content, especially for ratings purposes (Kids, Teens, etc.) and to keep genres of content hidden from local users depending on interest to not bloat libraries unnecessarily. Some people don’t like “old” black and white movies for instance. Is this also something that can be put in the NFO and imported in? If supported in the future, may we have more than one Label in the NFO?

Q04: I have put countless hours into my Plex library to get everything perfect. I meticulously adjust almost every single free text database field that you allow in your standard agents. I have lost my entire plex library in the past and have rebuilt this painstakingly over years, AGAIN. I do not want to EVER have to do this again manually, hence NFOs! I was really hoping that I could use the PLEX GUI to curate my data/fields (source of truth), and then have PLEX export all my data in your database to local NFO files, similar to how KODI does it. I know you have alluded to this feature not being important because “other apps to it better”. However, I have spent hundreds of hours dialing in my library perfectly fined tuned within your ecosystem. Please, for the love, add a feature to Export each Plex Library to NFO files. I would be willing to pay for this feature (already Lifetime), but TAKE MY MONEY LOL.

Thanks for your hard work on this! I very much look forward to assisting with testing and development as this thing rolls out! I would love to help in any way I can. I’m running on UNRAID via Docker. Thanks for your time.
