Plex Notify

Can you shufty the “most concurrent streams” a bit more to the left please?

I can’t see the total regardless of how I shape/reshape the window when RDP’ed on iPad

So I have been using plexwatch for the longest time and this is much easier. I find sometimes it crashes when trying to pull up a users history, it can be a lil quirky but I prefer the user interface. As for the web interface it took me the longest time to pull it up because everyone was saying to pull up localhost:port/RSS but it's actually localhost:port/RSS/index.xml. So after having that solved there is a feature I would like to see if it can be added either, RSS, email, or web page or something. I was trying to just have the library updates go to the users as a notification, but not the who is watching what notifications. Lastly the plex watch web interface is amazing. If only you guys could work together. The plex watch web interface is about as functional if not more so than the plex notify app itself, but setting up the scripts and server is not as easy, so it's a trade off. Would love to have the best of both worlds, even donate if you can help with that.

For version 2 I talked with the creator of Plex Export and we might possibly be integrating the two. I still have a lot of work to do on version 2 and I will have more information on this later.

Excellent notice!!!. Great, it my dream.. Plex Export integrate with Plex Notify...

Paco

For version 2 I talked with the creator of Plex Export and we might possibly be integrating the two. I still have a lot of work to do on version 2 and I will have more information on this later.

This is great news. I never got to check out plex export, but I heard it was good. I am currently using a batch file with a command line variables from the plex site to make logs of my library and back them up daily. The main thing I'm looking for aside from something close to that plex web (plex watch web gui) is a private secondary feed for friends and family with just the library updates. Anyway, that is awesome, keep up the great work and let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I do minor scripting, plenty of web design and graphics design. I come from more of a design background than programming.

Must be me but I am not seeing the purpose of Plex Export. It shows the exact info that is already within plex. I have not installed it yet but can you launch plex to then launch the movie directly from plex export?

This can be really handy if you want a list of movies / shows you have. Just for documentation / tracking purposes, or if someone asks you who doesn't have access to your plex shares. Some people just want a list of what they have. Others like to compare collections between users and see if someone has a movie or show they don't, something you can't do in plex natively. I'm sure there are other purposes I can't think of at the moment as well.

i have a question.

Could PlexNotifty extract IP addresses from the logs as people stream so that a record of ip addresses against each user remotely streaming can be logged?

would be bloody handy for me as I’ve had to manually go through the logs a couple times as I was suspicious a user was sharing their account!

Maybe someone else can tell you different, but unless it's on my LAN (local network) I get unknown IP Address. This being said, I would love for that feature to work. If you want to catch someone, the easierst way is to catch them with time stamps if they are streaming 2 shows during the same period, or if they are watching things out of order, or odd things like that.  Watching a show they hate or know they wouldn't watch. Or if you catch them streaming realtime you can go into command prompt. Crank out the ol'  "Netstat -n" grab the output paste it in notepad, search for 32400 (or the port you use) and see what ip someone is streaming from. From there you can even geo locate. Do this on occasion if you are worried. The best rule of thumb is just not to share with people you can't trust or you think would do something like that. Set the expectations up front as well so they can't play dumb.

Also, if you do catch someone, i have great ideas for how to go about busting them in style.

the logs on mine show external ip addresses. they change from user to user.

That makes sense.  I was reading through the thread about Plex Extract and was trying to figure out what it did.  I will have to install it and give it a whirl and see if everyone that subscribes to my server likes it or not.

Thanks

Larry

Started running Plex Notify about a month ago and it does most of what I was looking for and more - thanks.
Is there aa setting I'm missing to set the "To:" field under statistics automatically to the current date?  Perhaps a way to set it to "past 30/60/90 days"?

Just close and open it. It updates on launch.

It has updated now, currently at 107, and as you say it probably happened during a restart.
(caused by a need to restart that computer, which I otherwise do very seldom.)

Also it checks for updates every hour in app so it should do it automatically.

That's what it has done before, but apparently has now stopped doing.
Some time back I frequently noticed new updates being made 'spontaneously', but that was a while back now.

When I first noticed versions 106 and 107 mentioned in this thread, I expected mine to be updated automatically this way, but when that didn't happen as expected I felt I had to report this. It could be a symptom of a bug that also may have other effects.

Plex Notify crash.

Before and after the last PMS update, my PN crash.

Before: only sometimes and delete DB and PN crash at startup.

After installing PMS 0.9.10.0 still the same, crash even after going in settings.

After CLEAN installing PMS 0.9.10.0 crash at startup.

Any idea's?

Dare I ask, any luck fixing this yet?

I Can't seem to download/install Plex Notify...a file ("plex.notify.application") is being downloaded, but when I open it I'm getting the following message:

"Cannot download the application. The application is missing required files. Contact application vendor for assistance."

Anyone else getting this?

I can download the app but when I run it bombs before the gui starts saying something about a connection problem...

EDIT:   + Downloading http://plexnotify.codeplex.com/releases/clickonce/Plex Notify.application did not succeed.

+ The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.

I Can't seem to download/install Plex Notify...a file ("plex.notify.application") is being downloaded, but when I open it I'm getting the following message:

"Cannot download the application. The application is missing required files. Contact application vendor for assistance."

Same thing for me. I uninstalled it, planning to re-install it right away and have been getting that message all day :(

I cannot install this after download either, it can't find the install files online apparently

Error was :

Hope fixed soon, can't wait to try this!
