Dude - change one hard to reach 100W light bulb for an LED and be done with it, or turn your thermostat one degree. You save much more energy than getting Synology to spin down and you get many fold “energy bonus” by not having to dispose of ‘spin cycled to death’ hard drives and replace them with earth digging expensive to extract rare earth magnets and stuff shipped across the ocean to get to you. See the forest, not the quarter inch broken twig on the smallest sapling.
PMS has never, I repeat never been such that the hard drives sleep on Synology unless you set your sleep delay timer to 60 seconds. IF you do this, you will kill the drives in less than 1 year due to excessive head load count (maximum of 300,000 cycles).
