For the past few weeks, my Plex server has been crashing regularly. I have been trying to narrow down why. It appears that it crashes when I add new music to the library, which I do regularly. When I finally get the server back online, the music I last added is there, but without the cover art. So it seems it constantly crashes at whatever point in the process it loads the art from the tags (or at least before it gets to that point). I can manually refresh, and it loads the art up just fine. But I can’t figure out why the server is crashing.
I should add that I usually play music either via the Plex desktop app (Mac) or Plexamp on my phone (iOS), with the former app virtually always up and running. The server itself is running on a Windows machine. If I close out the Mac and iOS apps and only browse Plex via localhost on the server, I can add music, see that it loads up just fine, and nothing crashes. So the crashing seems related to having the client apps running.
Any advice on what might be causing this and how to fix it?
