my custom metadata got messed up so i had restored the whole Plex Media server folder from Time Machine backup as well as the com.plexapp.plexmediaserver.plist file. I have rebooted the Mac, but now when i start the application - it stays open for few seconds and then it closed. I have tried to use the original plex media server folder as i renamed it and that works and plex opens but it still has the Metadata messed up. Any ideas?
you need to start it in terminal session and see what errors are returned
Typical cause of start up crashes is permissions / ownership of the ~/Library/Logs folder or ~/Library/Caches
To start in terminal when it does not show as running in activity monitor
cd /Applications
./Plex\ Media\ Server.app/Contents/MacOS/Plex\ Media\ Server
