You’ll have to mount all remote shares using OS facilities. Plex Media Server won’t do any of that. Secondly… IMHO, see if you can export the volumes from your TrueNAS host as NFS. While Linux can mount CIFS/SMB volumes, they’re more of a PITA.

Do you know if it is doable to expose shares with both SMB and NFS? I work with them from Windows usually.

Well to answer myself it is possible. But I did make an NFS share of a subdirectory to the main plex directory and mounted it from a Ubuntu desktop and it worked just fine.

@staffan7 For future reference: Linux will let you run multiple services concurrently if you want. You could also use AFS if you so desired. You’ll find the CIFS/SMB service is good for Windows clients only. Max/Linux clients will work much better if you use NFS.
