Plex Server / Plex Amp: Play Spotify (or streaming service of choice).
I moved to Plex assuming that it was on a leading edge of audio and video services that I could use for all of my audio and video needs. Even signed up for the Lifetime Pass so that I could use Plex Amp.
So where is the ability to play the streaming service of my choice? Seems to have been requested thousands of times over the years (voting on this topic seems to be closed). And it seems that it was capable of doing this but ability has been dropped. Why make your product less useable?
I’m confused why a 2021 application does not incorporate technology that has existed for decades. For example, the ability to play the internet music streaming service of my choice.

That was an incorrect assumption.
Why make your product less useable?
There are a number of possible reasons for this:
Implementation of the feature requires external support that isn’t being provided.
The feature, once implemented, requires constant maintenance due to changing 3rd-party software.
The feature turned out to require more maintenance than expected, and there’s not adequate support personnel available to provide that support. This is a generalized version of item #2.
The list goes on, but I believe the first two are what apply to this request.
Each external service would need its own unique module. The module would need a dedicated team of developers to maintain it. I think you’d have more luck creating a3rd-party plugin to do the job.
Personally, I’d like to see the developers focus more on reducing bug count than on adding features. Don’t get me wrong, features are nice, but if the foundation is flawed, as it is now, then the new features will be built on a weak foundation.
Just out of my curiosity, how can it be that Logitech Media Server is able to maintain Spotify integration when they are ALL volunteers while Plex staff is PAID?
