I added a webhook end point to my plex server which has only one user. The endpoint receives all the media.* events from the library; but it does not receive the library.* events. I am specifically interested in the library.new event. In the media.* events, user = true and owner = true. I thought it may be a problem with the endpoint, but tcpdump indicates that the plex server never attempts to send a request to the end point when a new item is added.
I have combed through the server settings and the library properties to see if there were some granular webhook settings that I may have inadvertently disabled; but if they exists, I don’t see them.
If any one has any experience catching the library events, I would appreciate any feedback you may have.
I have the exact same problem. Receiving all the playback events but none of the library events. Plex never send the request. Were you ever able to solve this?
No, I was not able to get my plex server to send the library events.
I wanted the events because my wife wanted notifications in our chat application when new items were added to our library. So I decided it was easier to just modify the script responsible for adding media to our library to query The Open Movie Database (http://www.omdbapi.com) instead of trying to guess what I did wrong with plex.
Have the exact same problem here too, fairly certain this is a problem within plex because it does not even attempt to hit the endpoint requested but happily does for all other event types. To be honest the only event type I care about is the media added one so hopefully plex address this.
A quick workaround I got from @elan is to enable Mobile Push Notifications. Somehow, those two seem to be connected and my PMS now fires all webhooks as expected.
Yeah, the push notification code basically sends webhooks as part of the delivery, so if push notifications are turned off, that disables sending webhooks for them as well.
(Sort of an unfortunate commingling, but hopefully not the end of the world)
This did not work for me, its just the option titled Push Notifications right? @elan seems like it still doesn’t work even with the Push Notifications option checked
