Plex Server Ubuntu Has No Visibility To Drives

Server Version#:3.95.2
Player Version#:

I’ve had PMS running on a Windows 7 machine for years with great success. With W7 reaching end of life, I decided to install Ubuntu desktop after reading that PMS works on linux as well.

I’m in completely over my head as I have 3 hard drives in the computer that I’ve mounted and can see via the files app but I cannot get PMS to see them when trying to add folders to PMS.

I’ve gone through what I’m sure is a very accurate guide (at the link below) but I just can’t get it to work. I’m stuck at getting the editor to allow me to edit fstab. The file opens but I can’t seem to edit it. Once I get this sorted, I’ll know if I did the prior steps properly I suppose.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. you need root (sudo) permission to edit it
  2. Depending on the editor, you might need the editor commands. May I recommend;
    sudo gedit /etc/fstab ?

(you may need to install it: sudo apt install gedit )
