Plex Sync deletes not working correctly when initiated from Plex media server - >Andorid app

I am finding that once a file is synced to the android plex app on my phone, I can’t delete it. I can initiate the delete in the plex media server app under sync., It then disappears from the Plex media server list for the device in windows plex media server and disappears from the downloads and sync -> Manage list on the phone. However the movies don’t delete from the phone plex app in the main Downloads and sync section. After you get to this point you can’t click the three dots -> Delete offline content in the plex app under Downloads and sync -> Manage since they have disappeared as there are no movies in that screen anymore.

Even if you do the delete from Android app instead of initiating the delete from Plex media server on windows ie Android app-> Downloads and sync -> Manage three dots -> Delete offline content they only delete from the mange page and stay on the Downloads and sync page.

So there is no way to clear out the movies on the Android phone except to uninstall the app or clear the data at the android system level so you can recover the space.

I’m unable to reproduce this. If I hit the red X over a synced item listed under the Sync section in Plex Web, it removes it from there and from both the Manage and Downloads section in my Android App.

Keep in mind that the app does need to be able to connect to your server to receive this update. If your app is in offline mode or has bad internet service, it won’t receive that info to known to update.

If I initiate the delete from the Manage section in the app itself, it does remove it from the Downloads section for me.

If this isn’t working, I’m going to need more details on exact steps you’ve performed and logs from PMS and your Android app.

Was putting together some pics of what I was doing and one finally deleted, not sure why but it did.

I sent a new one to the phone Cars 2. Then initiated the delete from Plex Media server (windows) it deleted from the sync window on Plex media server and from the manage page on the Android app on my phone but not from the main Downloads and sync locally stored page. Also files are still on the phone storage.

There doesn’t seem to be a way to delete an individual movie when using the client from the phone either. The only thing you can do is click the three dots and Delete all offline content. However when you do that the space is not recovered either.

Something is odd in your log. The app identifies the libraries that it should see. I found the one matching your screenshot, but the app also sees this:

02-14 14:44:26.077 i: [SourceManagerFetcher:1179] - Galaxy Note9 • On this device

Notice how it starts with a dash. The name of the library should be infront of that. After the dash is the name of the server. You can’t sync from another mobile device, so I don’t know why that is being detected and why it thinks there is something to show. I think this is causing the rest of your sync items to not behave properly.

Do you see this server listed when viewing “Manage Downloads” from the app?

Ignore my previous comment. I was totally wrong. That’s just how the app identifies itself. Sorry.

Can you provide me your PMS logs for that time period?

Logs attached.

Any luck with the logs I posted?

Sorry, did not see the ping about your logs. I just took a look and you do not have debug logging enabled for your server, so your logs do not have the information to investigate this issue. I will need you to turn on that setting in your PMS, recreate the issue, then provide me new logs from both the Android app and your PMS. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I did try to recreate your issue, but it worked fine for me. I had a few things synced to my Android phone. From Plex Web, I deleted a synced movie, and it got removed from the manage screen and the download library. I also tried removing a movie from the manage screen, and it was removed from the download library.

This looks to be fixed in the most recent version, not sure if it was Plex android or plex server update that fixed it.
