Hi Guys,
I’ve spent the weekend working on V2, the only remaining items are plugins, internationalization and model fields. Apart from that, the main body of the exporter is done. Plex have also started rolling out 9.2 which includes some new API functionality they’ve added for Plex Export, which means I can now actually let others have preview copies to test.
As always, I can’t give a specific date. I can say though I’ve finished my University dissertation (yey!) and therefore PEv2 is now at the top of my todo list which means it’s hopefully going to reach an early-release candidate level this weekend. It’ll go up as a branch on Github so those who want to try it can.
Thank you all for your patience. I’ve tried to include as many features as possible based on what you’ve all been suggesting. Not long to wait now!
@Mickey: cheers for that, I’ll update the new models and add it in as a core feature!
Thank you Dachande and congrats for your University work!
Nevermind, got it working …
@mkh can you provide a link? (or PM it if you don’t want to share?)
Dachande663 : I got it working, I forgot to copy the public link to the index.html
my bad sorry ...
@mkh no worries, the new version will be coming along shortly and can export straight to the directory of your choice
Now that sounds awsome.. I must say all the work you put into this is pretty amazing, looking forward to the next update.
just FANTASTIC !!! love it !!!
one question, is there a way to sort by just added ?
@ipguy it’s in the next version (which I’m putting the finishing touches to as I write this).
Awesome !!
Feature suggestion:
- account setup with user/group access to sections, movies etc.
- can I borrow button
- just added email alert
- comments
@ipguy while I’d love to add those features they’re not possible with the current limitation of using just HTML and JavaScript (so people don’t need a we host). Hopefully in future other sites can offer that functionality.
No worries Dachande663 I’m still in love
Okay, big post coming up.
As of a few minutes ago, I pushed the first alpha release of Plex Export v2 to GitHub. Before you all go rushing off to grab it, realise this is in even more of an alpha state than the current export! I have spent the past few weeks and months basically starting from scratch, building up a solid core engine in much the same way Plex itself has. This means almost all of the features you have asked for (sort by date added to plex, view by genre, directors etc etc) are all supported. The real work now is just focused on the template itself. The current default one is based off of an amazing JavaScript plugin I found that obsoleted about a months worth of work.
There are bugs and a tonne of features to come. My main goal is to get the current template up to a satisfactory state (read: bring popups back, add the remaining filters, online player). The design has had minimal testing in browsers other than Chrome 10, Firefox 4 and Safari 5. I’m putting this release out today for two reasons:
- To show you guys I have being working. Everytime someone’s posted asking for XYZ feature and I say “It’s coming in v2” I felt like they weren’t getting the answer they deserved. Hopefully now you guys can see what I’ve done and suggest even more cool things!
- It’s my birthday! (No seriously, it is!)
You can view a preview of the new export at the link below and download the new exporter, but remember this is still a work-in-progress. If anyone’s interested in translating it or making additional themes please get in touch via PM.

happy birthday! can’t wait to try it out
happy birthday, great release.
The mobil version for v1 was handy, can we have it for v2 as well?
@fhb the mobile version will be updated to follow, the templates at the moment are pretty bare
Happy Birthday !!!
Great work!
happy BD dude…
amazing work!!!
question: is they a way to set the default sort order ?
Awesome work!!!
Happy Birthday!!!
@ipguy not currently. The default is that of Plex itself.
