Plex wont read drive

so the other day i tried to watch a tv show on my sever said it was disconnected. when i got home i rebooting my sever and found that plex would not read my drives. shut doqn my sever took out both drives and tested them on my laptop read fine. then i decided to try them on my laptop so i download plex made a new sever name and that works there on windows 10 fine. switch back to my sever which runs linux mint and i can not get plex to read the files on the drive. anyone have any idea what this could be. it been working great on linux for a little over a year with no problems i dont want to which it to windows inless its a last resort linux is just so much cleaner. any help would be so much appreciated i cant find anything anywhere been trying to fix this for to days straight. even reinstalled linux mint from the start thinking it may be corrupted but no luck :confused:

Sounds like you might have an issue with how you’re mounting those drives. This can easily result in the drives being available to the active user or root but not to the service account that’s used by your Plex Media Server (default: plex)

i guess im just either not getting what i need to do or im just typing something wrong what would the line be if these two drives that are highlighted are the two i need to get up and running i just find it weird

that plex just stop reading these drives that the thing i dont get

You might want to go through the instructions layed out in the Linux tips & tricks linked above… in particular the post about mounting hard drives → Linux Tips - #2 by ChuckPa

@Dragon7576

If those mounts were working; then stopped; did permissions get clipped on the /mnt directory or the top level mount points? (it can happen)

so i ended up transfering all content from the drives to another then reinstalling linx. Then formatted then old drives ( cuase somehow i wasnt the owner any longer). after that did the above steps and it work great now just dont understand how the drives were not “owned” by is all. thanks for your guys help.
