yes, thanks for confirming, it’s 32 bit
I confirmed 4.5.0 runs as expected on a fresh install of raspberry pi OS lite 32 bit … so it does seem like a compatibility issue
will add a note to my comment/link above … the script itself might still be useful if volumio users edit to install version 4.4.0
When trying to follow the steps I get the following. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance
tar (child): lbzip2: Cannot exec: No such file or directory
tar (child): Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
I am going to look at installing PlexAmp 4.5.0 on 2 separate builds I have of Volumio tomorrow (one 32bit ARM and one 64Bit Intel) and I will report back.
OK looking at the low level error I am getting I think stick with 4.4.0 for now as it looks like the latest build of plexamp is using a newer libc library as I get this error:
/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.29' not found (required by /home/volumio/plexamp/treble/linux-arm/treble.node)
Looking at Volumio 3.3 it using the previous version:
ldd --version
ldd (Debian GLIBC 2.28-10+rpt2+rpi1+deb10u1) 2.28
The version Volumio is using is the official one for RPI buster which is the version they use as a base:
cat /etc/os-release
PRETTY_NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)"
NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux"
VERSION_ID="10"
VERSION="10 (buster)"
VERSION_CODENAME=buster
ID=raspbian
And the official libc version for buster is currently - here https://packages.debian.org/buster/armhf/libc6
Package: libc6 (2.28-10+deb10u2) [security]
So I am guessing PlexAmp has moved to require a slightly different version of Raspbian. I believe it is possible to have 2 version of libc / libm installed and provide the plexamp ‘treble.node’ application with a path to the version they require. But sadly this is getting a bit messy, so I would stick with 4.4.0 for now.
Thanks to troubleshoot
Thanks for you work and your following
I can get this to work (4.4.0). I only get a “No provider for source” error.
Is anyone already running Volumio 3.396 ?
Yes it is still working 4.4.0 that is with the latest Volumio. But I am actually separately working with the Volumio team to make this a little easier.
Can I ask which line of the instructions gave you ‘No provider for source’?
i just figured it out. had to go to the settings and switch the playback device from follow system to the correct source.
i got this error when running plexamp
So I’ve got Plexamp running on two Volumio Pi’s (one Outputs Audio through HDMI, one through 3.5mm) and I don’t really get any audio out of them. I can connect through my phone and it starts playing (at least it says so). The Playback device seems to be switching back to System Default after some time and other than right after installing I didn’t get another bit of music out of the system.
What Audio Output Device Settings are you using?
So it’s not keeping the audio output setting for you? That is odd - I do have to set the output in the PlexAmp settings on the specific PI but once I do it saves that setting (even after a reboot). Possible are you changing the outputs on the PI?
This is how i set it, to play thouhgh the headphone jack. Im not chaning any outputs, nor do i attach/detach or even tough the pi, it just sits there plugged in for weeks.
I’ve tested some more and it seems to remember the ouput device fine now. However, i still cannot get any sound out plexamp and when starting a song from the webui it just loads endlessly.
Well never mind after not working for the last two weeks, it suddendly deviced to output sound without me changing anything whatsoever. i guess ill hope it just keeps working now ![]()
