Plexamp multi-user, multi-room

Plexamp headless couldn’t have arrived at a better time for me. I was just moving back home some months after a catastrophic flood event destroyed, among many other things, my Chromecast Audio and Sonos Connect devices.

I now have Plexamp streaming around the house to multiple Raspberry Pi connected to AV receivers and powered speakers, using snapcast, with an instance each for my partner and me so we can take turns controlling the music.

Thank you to the developers and contributors for making Plexamp what it is.

Thank you to the folk who mentioned snapcast in various threads back in the v1 days.

Apologies to @chrisboll - I hope you didn’t outlay too much on Sonos devices based on my previous advice, it turns out patience was the best option after all!

Thanks KM. I didn’t realise PlexAmp had added this feature - is it as simple as stream to a raspberry pi client? Not much info when I Google.

I bought a bunch of older Sonos devices - good price so no biggie, can probably sell on for what I paid.

For multi-room I’m running snapcast server with alsa loopback source and Plexamp headless set to use loopback output.

For multi-user I’m using a plexamp@.service and a different port for each user set in ~/.local/share/Plexamp/Settings/%40Plexamp%3Ahttp%3Aport
