My ATV is on a static IP along with my PMS. I tried the ATV setting to not sleep and it didn't make a difference. Eventually trailers just spins and spins and spins and isn't reachable.
Is your PMS on a static though?

Yes it is.
Yes it is.
I see, and then I am unsure what could be the issue.
As I said in another post about this problem, I have an Harmony remote that switches off all my equipment (TV, aTV, A/V receiver) except the NAS, where PlexConnect and PMS are running 24x7. I have never observed this "plexConnect keeps dropping out" problem. In other words, this means that my aTV is never left switched on for long periods. And also that, as the NAS never goes into "sleep state" (as a PC may go), My PlexConnect is available 24x7.
Is there anyone whose aTV is permanently on (not switched off as mine) not experiencing such a problem ? In that case, is PlexConnect always on (I mean, the computer running PlexConnect is neither sleeping nor hibernating) ?
Erratic problems like this can be caused, for example, if the aTV "pings" the service and the service is not available (I'm just guessing, I'm no expert in this area).

I have an always running PMS Windows machine that also runs PlexConnect, and the ATV is essentially always on as I only turn off the TV, and I never have this problem.
Hi there,
I'm wondering if someone found a fix for this since I'm having the same issue. Plexconnect is running an a 2013 iMac (yosemite) and both the iMac and aTV are connected with ethernet cables (altough I tried with wifi and still having the same problem.) I even restore the aTV and tried to reinstall Plexconnect a few time (both manually and using openplex).
I've notice that the problem seems to happen when the imac goes to sleep. If I wake up the mac, then plex works great on the aTV. I have the wake up on lan option turn on. I know the wake up option works because I can access my iMac anytime through my macbook.
Since the iMac is on the second floor and I'm too lazy to go upstair, what I do to fix this is that I access Plex using my iPhone, iPad or Macbook pro (using plex client) which wake up the computer. Once the client access plex, then I go on the aTV and can access my media files as usual.
Can't post any more details right now as I'm not home but I can post log tonight if needed.
Thanks people!
I fixed my issue. It was indeed a problem with Wake on Lan option. I did some test and when my iMac was set to never sleep, I had no issues. But since I didn't want my mac to run 24/7 without going in sleep mode, I did more research and under Openplex, I noticed the WOL option that for unknown reason, I didn't notice before. So I reinstalled everything one more time with Openplex but this time with the WOL option selected. Now everything works as it should be.
Thanks for that great software! :)
Hi There - Add me to the list of plexconnect losing connection after an amount of time. No real logic to it and the time length differs each occurrence.
My machine is running Mavericks 10.9.5 and is set to never sleep as it is a dedicated Plex Server with shared clients across the globe.
I have tried setting the atv to sleep 'never' but this does not resolve the issue. When the disconnect happens, a restart of the atv gets things back on track.
Both server PMS and atv have static IP addresses.
Used Openplex to set up the plexconnect - great app.
Can supply logs if required if any ninja's want to take a look :) Appreciate all the efforts from everyone in getting this issue resolved
Dan
Having exactly the same problem as everyone else and doesn't seem to be any particular reason.
Static IP's all round on my network with CAT 6 cable's. unRAID server doesn't sleep and cache drive never spins down or goes offline.
PlexConnect still comes and goes.
One thing i have noticed is that when this happens if i try to airplay plex to the ATV the ATV does not show up in the airplay options, anyone else finding this?
Hi all,
I have the exact same problem here.
In fact, I had my computer installed with OSX Yosemite (hackintosh) and I had the issue.
Now I'm on debian and I have the exact same issue. My computer is set to never sleeps, I just shut off its own screen.
I don't know if the issue is on AppleTV side or PlexConnect side, but I'm planning to enter a cron job to kill, update & restart plexconnect each night so I'll be ok on that side.
I'll keep you updated on this, if it helps. If it does not, the next step is to make the AppleTV reboot everyday also.
BR,
Simon
