OK here what happens. we watch a movie in the morning or afternoon no problem. Then lets say I go out to do somethings. I turn off the TV. I leave the mac pro on just the way it was while watching the movie. I then come home after say 4-5 hours later. Now the apple TV is set to sleep after and hour. I go to watch a movie I can get into the screen to see the movie list but no artwork. I try to play a movie and all it does is say finding trailers. I then have to go into setting and restart the apple TV and all is good. I have tried rebooting the mac and not restarting the apple TV but nothing changes. It only works after the restart of the apple TV.
If you come out of the trailer app and go back in does it work?
Have you got the latest release of PlexConnect? The original or PlexInc version?

I have tried that too. nope still no play.

yes latest one. this has done this with all.
I am trying something to see if it fixes it. I have a logitech remote that turn the tv on/off and set inputs. When I choose the apple tv it turns everything on as it should. But when you turn the tv off it turn the apple tv off. I change the remote so that it wont turn it off. It will now just go to sleep as it should. Will let everyone know what happens. Be funny if it just because of the remote.
Let me know how you make out with this. I'm having a similar problem. After sitting in sleep for awhile my Apple TV just stops connecting to the internet. If I restart the computer that has PlexConnect on it, it works fine again. I too have a Logitech remote.
ok just checked. no change. after sleep still have to restart apple tv. same with apple tv upstairs
The PMS machine isn't going to sleep is it? That would explain the issue happening on both devices, then you you reboot the ATV it is forcing a new connection I would assume and waking up the PMS machine. Maybe check the power setting on the server and see if it is putting OS HDD in standby/sleep mode etc.
I have my server set so it will spin down my media storage drives after 60 minutes of inactivity, but the OS drive and operating system stays away, as it is my download machine as well.

The Mac Pro has been set to never sleep. I did uncheck the spin down drives wen not used. I will try I the am to see if this change anything. Thanks for everyone's ideas
I will bring this up with Baa and Roidy but for now i would suggest setting the ATV to never sleep, it is designed as a ultra low power device so it is not going to cost much to run.

OK last night I change the mac pro to not put the drives to sleep or spin down. Set the ATV to go to sleep. Woke this morning and went to use the apple TV and all worked good. Played two movies. So off to work I go. Will try tonight when I get home and let you all know.

Interesting. It may be a timeout issue due to drives being spun down then,we had something similar reported by an UNRAID user.
Please provide an update and maybe we can do some tests with you on the time outs?
I have similar problems.
Latest Plex Connect. Both Plex Connect and Plex Server are on unraid.
The problem for me isn't after sleep. After I watch a show or movie, after its done I get the error. I hit menu where it goes to find my library and everything is good again. It sometimes takes 2 tries but it ends up working again.

mgworek: Do you let your hard drives spin down as well?
Yes, all of my data drives spin down except for the drive with PMS and PlexConnect on it.

Can you try editing, when PlexConnect is shut down, XMLConverter.py.
Change the following line:
Function GetURL - about lines 130-160 Line “conn = httplib.HTTPConnection(address, timeout=10)”.
Change the timeout there (it is in seconds). You may want to play about with it a bit.
