Fanart isn't supported in 5.3 (the latest jailbreak).
Good catch!
Fanart isn't supported in 5.3 (the latest jailbreak).
Just to be sure: the method to install PlexConnect on a jailbroken ATV2 with ATV OS 5.3 on page 12 of this thread is still valid and the PlexConnect package doesn't support fanart (because of the OS) and it is updated regularly, i.e. Baa has two different repositories, one for PlexConnect with fan art and one without.
Can someone confirm that my statement above is correct ?.
Thank you very much in advance.
There is only one ibaa github
The suggested method is using iBaa’s instructions. I made a optional method based upon his original method but slightly modified to attempt to assist users to install his current commit (version) of his github with a few tweaks of my own like spoofing the ios to get newer ios apps and a easy to install .deb.
Thank you for all the hard work you guys are putting into this. I installed everything according to wahlman.j's tutorial. I have plexconnect running on ATV2 and I get this in Terminal when I try to turn plexconnect on

Baa
IP_self: 192.168.1.19 (That was before I assigned a manual IP address to the MacMini where PMS and plexconnect are running) This was when I was messing with the settings.cfg file to try and get things working.
IP_self: 192.168.1.2 (That is now the manually assigned IP address of the MacMini where PMS and plexconnect are running) I assigned the manual IP after I had re-installed plexconnect and left everything as is.
I'm using terminal on the MacMIni that is running both PMS and plexconnect.
f00b4r
I did change the DNS when I kept getting that 58 was already in use, that was before I re-installed plexconnect were the port is 53 now.
So post #327 is irrelevant now, the error I am getting is the one I posted in post #328
Sorry for the confusion I caused.
Thanks,
PlexConnect should start on it’s own using baas method or my modified version based upon his original method. I would restore your aTV to factory DFU and start over. Multiple users have successfully installed it using my .deb. Get PlexConnect working first if you restore to factory. Any other jail broken apps/tweaks in use on your aTV?
I followed your instructions in post #231 to the dot. Plexconnect is on the apple tv but it does not see the server, is the issue I am having an aTV issue or plexconnect on my MacMini? I have no other apps installed, I used sea0npass to install 5.3 on my aTV and then installed plexconnect.
Well if PlexConnect can’t start due to port 53 in use you must fix that first. Pms has nothing to do with that portion. I have had users restore to factory then install the .deb a few times before it worked properly. DFU is the way to go. I have never seen that issue ever on a aTV PlexConnect host before.
Are you trying to start PlexConnect manually after already installing the autostart plist (guessing this is in the deb file)?
Hey Guys -
I restored my apple tv and removed anything related to PlexConnect from my MacMini and started the whole process again.
To setup PlexConnect on my MacMini I followed this guide (https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect/wiki/Install-Guide-Mac) although I wasn't clear on what to do with "trailer.key" so I left it on the desktop. I used the following command to have plexconnect run automatically
cd "/Applications/PlexConnect-master/support/OSX"
sudo ./install.bash
and to setup PlexConnect on my aTV I followed wahlman.j's post #231 although I noticed this error in terminal
Apple-TV:~/Plex root# dpkg -i python_2.7.3-3_iphoneos-arm.deb

Out of curiosity why do I need to sign in to MyPlex? PlexConnect is installed on my aTV but I still can't find the server. I tried to set the DNS on my aTV to the MacMini's IP address and still I could not find the server.
I tried to start PlexConnect manually using the following command (sudo "/Applications/PlexConnect-master/PlexConnect.py"
and I got the following error again
19:45:56 PlexConnect: ***

19:45:56 PlexConnect: Shutting down.
19:45:56 PlexConnect: shutdown
19:45:56 PlexConnect: shutdown
I used Activity Monitor to see what was running on port 53 and there was not processes on that port.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
F00b4r or Wahlman.j will give you a better answer to solve the problem of PlexConnect on the ATV, but from your post I understood that in order to have PlexConnect on your ATV you also must have it on the Mac Mini.
Which is ABSOLUTELY NOT necessary.
PlexConnect works with any Apple TV (2nd or 3rd Gen) with the latest IOS. You need to "install" your generated trailer CER on the ATV (see the wiki for an explanation on how to do this).
Now if you don't want to have another computer running PlexConnect, you can also install PlexConnec DIRECTLY on a ATV2 with OS 5.3 jailbroken, following Wahlman.J's instructions. With it, you can travel with your ATV2 and access your Plex servers remotely. And that's why you need to sign in to MyPlex.
Now for your python installation error, I can't help you unfortunately.
Package libffi is not installed.
Find this package and install it be it a .deb or using apt. Use google to search for it and find it.
Did you install the SQLite packages from here like in the instructions instructed you to prior to installing python?

Sometimes the package maintainers change the code for these dependencies which is out of my control.
@Thumpermat is correct follow what he said as well.

Thanks for your help. I am bit confused now, don't I need to have PlexConnect running on my MacMini to be able to use PMS on the aTV? If I just install PlexConnect on aTV would it be able to see PMS? If this was the case, then why isn't PlexConnect finding my PMS?

Hey, I followed your instructions to the dot and yes I downloaded the files from the dropbox link you just posted here. I will install the libffi and report back.
Thanks,
PlexConnect cannot see pms from your Apple TV until plexconnect is fully installed on your aTV and you are signed into Myplex just like @thumpermat told you. You do not need plexconnect on your mac if you get it installed properly on your aTV.
