I vote for not displayingI see. I must have "show errors" turned off on my web server. I see the errors in apache logs but not onscreen so I thought it would be safe to leave it like this. Either I'll have to take your advice and not display removed media or come up with something else.
Thanks for the feedback.
Yeah, obviously I have some of those same errors due to media being removed, or moved to a different category.
Ok, slight thread off-topic, but the root reason I'm asking is because you've all been wetting my appetite discussing this great project + plexWatch
Additionally, I feel answers to this post would help those with little to no 'web server' experience*, but who still wish to run plexWatch/Web.
I've reviewed the web software installation links Eleese points to.
I 'think' I've narrowed my 'ease of use' selections down to Xampp For Windows or WampServer.
Is anyone here that has had experience with either give pointers as to which one would be best, understanding the following desires I have?
1) Installation NOT to C:\ drive. (I have limited storage system drive, but an apps drive with plenty of room)
2) Easy configuration - Quick review of both seems to have some GUI configuration for basic config. Is one 'easier' than the other? Does one offer more options in a GUI than another?
3) Frequent updates - when exploits for <whatever sub-package, apache, php, > are fixed at project site, do both 'in a box' solutions update quickly?
4) Lazy updates - Do both allow updating easily and quickly? (I wish to avoid having to go straight to project site and figure out how to manually update the 'in a box' sub-package.
* - I have plenty of experience and ability, unfortunately, tech hobby life has grown time constrained.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I installed Xampp in order to use plexWatch/Web on my Windows PMS system. It was extremely easy to setup. I don't see any reason why it, or any part of this plexWatch system, can't be installed to any drive on your system.
The Xampp installation is simple. Just download the latest version of the Windows Installer, and then run that installer. It'll allow you to install it wherever you want. The only part of it you need for this, is Apache, but you can safely install the full package if you like. I did. Once it is installed, and the Xampp Control panel is opened, click on Apache/Admin and follow the directions on the Xampp Security page to set passwords for the system. It's very simple.
Once you've done that, click on Apache/Config and choose PHP from the flyout menu. This will open the file php.ini into a text editor. When that opens, search for date.timezone, and set the timezone to your timezone by going to the following webpage, and finding the correct parameter for your timezone and replacing the default one in the php.ini. Be sure to Save the file before exiting. Once you've done all of this, then Start the Apache server in order to view plexWatch/Web.
http://www.php.net/manual/en/timezones.php
Once you've done that, just make sure you have the latest versions of plexWatch and plexWatch/Web installed, as per the instructions for those two systems, and you should be all set to use it.
As far as your other questions go, I can't really answer those, as I only installed this a couple of days ago. But Xampp seems well made, and easy to use from what I've seen so far. I doubt updating is very difficult, and probably very simple. In any case, good luck! :)
Hi @ everyone,
is it possible:
Web-Frontend in several Languages?
I would Translate german.
Thank you
There is no way to make the images display outside of your own network in some way?
There is no way to make the images display outside of your own network in some way?
This is one of the issues I have as well. Everything is running on Windows with XAMPP. Running latest of both plexWatch and PlexWatchWeb. On the host machine, visiting the PlexWatchWeb website, I see all images for the items correctly. Visiting from any other machine, inside or outside my LAN, I cannot see these images.
Additional notes/bugs:
- Images for videos outside of host (as mentioned above)
- Users show no icons except my main plex ID with an odd result. I'm not quite sure what was meant by the Gravatar discussion. (see below)
- In charts, long file names cause formatting issues (see below)
- I believe user play time includes paused time, not sure if this is intentional
- Feature request: Aggregate statistics for the entire server
This is looking great, let me know if you need any more testing.

You need to setup a gravatar account ( http://en.gravatar.com/ ) and use the email address that you used to setup your main plex account.
The plexWatch web app will automatically pick up that info and display what ever gravatar image you created.

I will look into what is involved with adding translation. I started an enhancement issue on GitHub for it so feel free to track status of it there.

This is a known limitation currently and has been posted at the beginning of this thread. The only current workaround is to add any IPs you need to in your Plex Media Server "List of networks that are allowed without auth". Also, set plexWatch[pmsIp] to your public IP address or domain name. myPlex authentication support may be added to a future version of plexWatch/Web to eliminate this workaround.
I hope you guys can add myplex authentication to it so this will work :) Apart from that great job, love it! Finally an easy way to track everything that is happening :)
I've noticed that the History page loads all records and then creates pagination links. As the history continues to grow, this will become a bottleneck and cause the history page to load slowly. Is it possible to only retrieve the number of records set in the dropdown (defaults to 10). Then, when you click on the link to go to the next page, it will load the next 10.

Yes this is possible to implement, it just hasn't been high on the priority list yet. I will add it to the official enhancements list so we don't forget. Feel like taking on the challenge? :)

- This was answered already and is a known limitation at this time
- hthighway answered this for us.
- I am aware of this and an issue has been filed to re-design the charts in a future update to plexWatch/Web
- When you say play time I assume you mean duration? If so, duration is a calculated length of time that includes the subtraction of any paused length of time. This was intentional to subtract the paused time from the duration. If you find it more useful to leave that in the duration I can file an issue to offer a user selectable option in a future update.
- Total Plays/Time viewed stats or something more?

I'm out of town for work this week but can bang something out this weekend
I have "Require authentication on local networks" set on in plex and if i do that plexWatchWeb doesn't work.
Also, I have tried to enter the ip address of the plexWatchWeb server in the "List of networks that are allowed without auth" but when I do that plex/web automatically removes the checkbox for "Require authentication on local networks".
Is this a known issue?
Would there be any way to manually insert images for the user icons? :) I´m the only one that uses gravatar, just wondering if I could liven things up.
To be pushy and put things on the "I-would-like-to-have" list, I could really use some collected/aggregated data. To be precise, I would like to see total number of files played and total playtime, in daily/weekly/montly charts. Expandability of the Top lists down to the least played files could also come in handy, to decide what to delete when I´m running out fo space.
But thanks again for this, this is my new favourite stat page to display on my server monitors at home!
For some reason (moved it to ubuntu linux box, separate from plex), im getting a white page on home for plexwatchweb and in apache error logs i see:
[Tue Oct 15 15:41:13 2013] [error] [client xx.xx.xx.xx] PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_SL in index.php
Any idea?

I merged the dev branch into master this morning. After reading your post I checked all files and noticed a couple had been partially corrupted from the merge. I just fixed those files and sync'd the commit. Re-download and try again. Sorry about that. This is the second time a merge has corrupted files for me.
Seems to be working now :) Thank you!
