do i need to run the .vbs files like it starts in the first thread (i don't see them in the download) or will just executing plexwatch.exe every minute do the trick?
update: even after running the plexwatch.exe, nothing that is NOT on the local network seems to be updating. Struggling with what it could be? Could it be an issue with PlexWatch web interface? I pulled up debug.log and it only shows the two things from 2 days ago. Do I have to edit config.pl? Seems from the instructions thats no longer needed with this version.

* You should use the vbs script and follow the instructions. VBS is used so it doesn't pop up a cmd prompt on every run and it's the verified way to run this.
* it doens't matter what network you are on.. it matter what clients you use. Some are not supported ( mainly PMC and ATV2 jailbreak). If it shows now playing on plexWeb, then it will work. Again, I am probably thinking it's the fact you are not running it every minute. There is NO history for watched content, that is what plexWatch does, but requires you to run it every minute to work.
* you should not have to edit the config.pl (however it is required to exist) - below are the requirements when you have to edit it
- not running plexWatch on the same server as PMS
- you want to be notified and not just log content
- you want to enable IP logging
Here are the steps to verify it works. Try this when you are on LTE
Stop any scheduled task, so it doesn't affect this test
* start video(s) * verify plexWeb shows now playing
* cd c:\plexWatch ( you must be in the directory to run the script properly )
Now try and log the watch, we will run with --debug to print any info that may help ( if you call any commands after the script you must also put --notify ) * plexWatch.exe --notify --debug
Now see if it's logged the start by seeing if anything is being watched. * plexWatch.exe --watching
* stop video(s) * verify the video has been removing from "now playing" on plexWeb * plexWatch.exe --notify --debug
Now it should be logged as "watched" * plexWatch.exe --watched
One last (tiny) little issue.. Where is it pulling the times from? My machine has 3:02 EST, it says it started at 9:02, is there a setting on my end that is screwed up?

Time is all local to the machine and when it actually ran. Can you display/include the output you see? I am not sure how the time could be off.
Edit: it could be due to grouping - It will group content on the same day within a few hours of each start so it doesn't show a line for every start/stop of the same content for a user.
* To see each start/stop for the same content, run: plexWatch.exe --watched --nogrouping
I'm wrong, the issue is correct on your end (the debug log shows the correct time, it's a Plex web front end issue, it looks like)..

* GNTP notification in config.pl and Growl for windows is the app your have to install receiving the notifications.
* Alternative task schedulers are fine, I don't support or use them. If it works, then I don't see any issue. The vbs script is really only to prevent the cmd pop ups with ran without it. I am guessing your task scheduler already does this for you or you'd already be annoyed with the every minute cmd prompt showing on the screen.
I just realized there were 2 different vbs scripts, so I swapped out the exe for those 2 scripts in always up. Cool Deal. I'm still experimenting whether or not I want the new eps / movies in my feed. Loving this though.

note: The recently added vbs script is only to notify. If you are not notifying on RA content, there isn't a need to run it. The plexWatch/Web recently added is a direct query to the PMS.
One more issue :p (i promise). now all of my clients seem to work. but, now, other users dont show up under plexwatch. when i go to 'users' in the web interface, it only shows me, not my 4-5 others that have streamed since I set this up(since this afternoon). The only thing I can think of is that the default 'host' in the web interface is 'localhost'. Should it be 127.0.0.1?

If it shows you it will log all users, nothing special there. If they don't show up in plexWatch.exe --watched, then they didn't get logged and it won't show on the web interface. Again this only works on going, so maybe you didn't have this running properly every minute.

leave localhost as is and users will only show up as they start watching when you started plexwatch
I originally posted this in the plexWatchWeb thread but I wanted to share my appreciation towards ljunkie here as well and provide some screenshots using the Windows revision along with plexWebWatch.

Included are images of my current use of both of these addons. plexWatch works great with Growl for Windows and I've received notifications on my phone as well via Pushover. In regards to plexWatchWeb, I've only had it installed for less than a day and I love the all the statistics that it provides via the plexWatch database file B)
I currently send an email the old fashioned way telling my users when i will be performing a server maintenance.......
Was wondering since you have the notifications built in for multiple email addys......
Could another notify area and vbs script be created to "notify" - 'server message (editable)' ie: maintenance, blah, blah....
I could then create a task to run said script every 30 days or manually if needed
My users dont need to see playing, resume, pause, etc but would love to be informed of the server being down for a scheduled time.
Open to criticism and alternatives....
I'd be interested to see what they come up with but I imagine you don't have your users in your notification feed and if you do, probably just the announcement of new media. I would imagine a web form would work wonders and I would be glad to help if you would like. Otherwise again, will be nice to see what comes of this. All in all, I'm thinking email / form, rss. At the same time you could always just send a manual notification using whatever platform you are using. For example I use pushover currently, it supports this as I would imagine most notification platforms. I def like the idea though, just to be able to click something and everyone is notified server is going down, and again when it's up.

Sorry, I fail to grasp why this would be added to plexWatch. Your current email is a good idea, but maybe you should look into a group text or have them follow a private twitter account.
Roger I hear ya but hears my problem with text and twitter......
Several of my users are OLD!!!! LOLOL they have issues and realistically only use their computer for email which of course is connected to said smartphones (set up by the delightful people at their providers)
So adding twitter and god forbid that 4 letter word "TEXT" would not work for me..... LOLOL

Was just thinking if it had another variable ie: 'push_server_message' => 1, and the message is editable via the config.pl........ I could send this message every 28 days saying something to the extent of "Server will be down Sun. from noon to 1 for server maintenance!" just as a friendly reminder.
I would then run a task every 28 days on saturday letting them know that sunday is a maintenance day......
Then this would also be an automatic push and I wouldnt have to remember to fire that email off each saturday.
