PlexWatch seems to quit occasionally, and I can't find a simple reason. It will run for days without a problem, and then stop. I've tried manually starting the Scheduled task, manually running the scheduled task, stopping, deleting and recreating the task - basically everything I can think of. I've also stopped and started the PMS Server, the database server, Growl, web server - still no luck. Refuses to run until I reboot the computer.
The only way it will work is with the command line directly to the plewatch executable file.
I've attached the sections of the debug log and plexWatch log where the programs seems to stop
It's possible plexWatch is just running indefinitely? I've seen a few times where plexWatch never finishes it's run, and there are safeguards in place to only allow it to run once. The next time this happens, check your task manager and see if plexWatch is running. In that case, manually kill it and see if it starts working. I do not have any idea why this happens, but I'm assuming if this is the case, I'll need to add some sort of timeout to kill it if it runs for too long.

Not 100% sure, but I did have the task manager running to see if plexWatch was stuck (for lack of a better word) and I didn't see it in the list. It did pop up if I ran the task manually, or used the command for the executable file, and seemed to exit just fine. I guess if there is safeguards to only allow one instance, running manually wouldn't allow a second instance, even if it was started manually.
Maybe there's another process it calls that sometimes doesn't exit properly?

I seem to be stuck trying to get Pushover to send out the notifications. From what I can see I have installed everything correctly and the PlexWatc log files are being populated (so assuming it's picked up the correct username/passowrd and Plex media log locations).
I have registered a new app in Pushover and applied both the user and app token in the config.pl file however I just get the following error message upon starting/stopping media.
"setting pushover to back off additional notifications"
Any ideas on where I am going wrong guys? (Do you need to do anything special when registering an app key in pushover)

I most likely missed something very simple.... but I am trying to get this set up and I am not getting any output.
I was able to get through the initial setup and run the EXE in CMD with no errors but when I run it while something is playing I get nothing. I also configured the scheduled task and Pushbullet but I get no notifications. I'm confused. I attached my config file with personal data replaced with XXXX
It looks like it is running fine since the plexWatch.log is has data in it and i verified that the script is running successfully.
So maybe pushbullet is the issue?
WAIT.... I'm dumb.... I didn't make the channel blank. oye.

I had the exact issue with Pushbullet when I first set it up... First I had to clear out settings I wasn't using like "channel". Second I had to remove and re-add my device in pushbullet, and that did the trick.
So, I just wanted to verify that this feature is not (yet) available...

I have done some searching and it seems like this feature is not available at this time, is this correct?
Also, is there a way to choose the % at which something is considered "Watched". This would prevent "Watched" notifications every time the stream is closed.

There are technically no delays for notifications, so no, there is option to group them. The grouping options are basically for the output, in the CLI or plexWatchWeb. I'd suggest for now, to look at PlexEmail, which is more tailored for reports or recently added content.

Ok I got it working. Now I was trying to setup the "password protection" because right now anyone outside my network can navigate to my plex watch web. I wasn't able to get this to work following the instructions.

I don't think there is a way to secure it. By the developer's own admission, PlexWatchWeb should absolutely not be used outside your local network.
Also, this thread is for PlexWatch, not the (completely separate and developed by someone else) PlexWatchWeb.

I figured out the answer but i'm posting here in case anyone else has the issue.
The $server_log file does not have to be local and can be remote. For my purposes I am using a UNC Path off the plex server to access the file with plexwatch.
The formatting for UNC files inside of the config.pl file is as follows:
'\\\Plexserver\\share\\Plex Media Server.log' (The ' is required at the beginning and end so don't delete it)
Example (config.pl):
$data_dir = 'c:\\plexWatch\\'; ## to store the DB, logfile - can be the same as this script$server_log = ‘\\192.168.x.x\Logs\Plex Media Server.log’; ## used to log IP address of user (alpha)
$log_client_ip = 1; ## requires $server_log to be available too. (requires File::ReadBackwards)also required DEBUG log to be turned on in the PMS
Note: For the above example to work you would need to share out the Logs directory on your Plex Media Server so that the PlexWatch Server could access it via a UNC Path.
Default Log Directory: C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Logs
