PMS Feature Request- Movie List and Movie Request

Movie List/ Media List. Printable. I know if I have remote access up and running correctly I can search a movie up on my phone but I would like to have a printable list of my media based on what I have in my server. Some notes on what hard drive each thing is located would also be very helpful. I am sure this would be an easy addition to make. This would serve a bunch of purposes for me- it would let me know what media I might have lost if hard drive failed so I can rebuild the library. It would also give me a handy list to bring with me for when I am (or my wife or anyone) is out at the store and to know if I have that movie already when they are out shopping.

The second (and this could totally be made into a printable list of some sort as well) request is literally… “movie/ media request.” The ability for me or someone else who is using my library request a certain movie or show get added would be really cool. I occasionally think of something I would like to get and then forget about it. My wife and family that share my server also make requests all the time. I think a wishlist for people to put requested media on the server would be pretty neat. Maybe even make this searchable for all people who your server is shared with, see what other people who also use that server are requesting. I think if the movie could be somehow picked from an official list of movies (like from imdb) so that metadata could get added that would show would be a cool spin on this… to really flush it out, it would be cool to extend the feature to also let the server owner pick media that will get added soon and show up in a “Coming soon preview” of what will be added. I think this would really add some excitement to your media server to see that it isn’t just stagnant and that there are plans for you to grow it.

Anyways, would love to see these things and I haven’t seen anyone else request these specifically but let me know what the rest of you think of these.

[Edit]- I will check out Exportools to see if that meets the need of the first one.

I second this. Terrific idea. maybe even export as a spreadsheet? With file location as stated but also maybe metadata like release year, director, etc? Would allow you to catalog/audit your collection.

In terms of HD failure you can also turn off automatic emptying of trash, then you at least still have the entries within Plex to refer to in case of disaster. I have everything backed up, but on various drives and not that well organized so seeing which entries in Plex still have the red trash can allows you to identify the stragglers you have to search for.
