I’m also running into this issue too. i downloaded all the codecs manually and some of my files only show black screens now.
This worked, sort of. Some videos now play normally, some are stuttering video while the audio is fine. All are taking a lot longer to begin playing than normal.
I had this issue after updating on my Synology only on my Samsung TV though. All I did was stop and start it on the synology and worked again. I didn’t do anything with the codec folder
Can you guys give it another try? I beleive we fixed everything on our end (again)
Had the issue starting about 20 minutes ago after updating on macOS. Renaming Codecs folder to Codecs-old and relaunching PMS resolved the issue.
Can confirm it remade the Codecs folder and then made a folder inside “e613bce-97f23d579c1001d8e9cc0d2e-darwin-x86_64” and libh264_decoder.dylib nested inside that folder.
Thanks!
Did you sort out the root cause this time? Hoping it won’t happen again ![]()
Sorted it for me. Thanks!
I’m not even sure that this is my issue now after reading so many posts. here’s what I’ve done so far, reinstalled PMS, copied the codecs published on this page to codecs folder and I could play on most apps but not on all. I have renamed my codecs folder old and restarted server which made a new codes folder. still not able to play via the https://app.plex.tv/desktop or any browser! I have included the latest log files as I’m not sure what I’m looking for, and hope someone with some knowledge can assist me.
Similar solution here. Deleted container. Identified Codec folder and deleted it. Restored container from template. PMS then rebuilt codec folder once I played a h.264 file.
Did you update before or after old mate said they fixed everything? i hope its not still focked
I updated before and after old mate
Hello, could we get some news from the Plex team please? ![]()
I managed to fix the problem partially (now working on browser) but still doesn’t work with the Windows plex client. My PMS is running on Ubuntu Server and I’ve tried everything I have seen on this topic (and more).
Will there be an update of PMS to fix this issue?
Thanks
I updated the codec folder. Everything seems to be working. My last 3 rips I converted the audio to AC3 instead of AAC just to be safe. (during this whole ordeal I noticed older media that I converted audio to ac3 seemed to play fine while everthing that was converted to aac kept displaying an error)
Unraid here, using the official plexinc/pms-docker image. Same thing as the above. I stopped the container, then moved the Codecs directory to Codecs-old, started it up and started trying to play a movie that required transcoding, but no dice. Checked and a new Codecs directory was created, but only had one codec in the subfolder (can’t remember which now). Tried the movie a second time, no dice. Played it from a device that wouldn’t need transcoding just fine.
Shut it down again, downloaded all of the codecs as someone mentioned above using a bunch of wgets, chown’d the files to the appropriate docker user and group., started it up, the codecs are all there with the appropriate permissions, but still no dice.
Willing to try some other things, but at this point not sure what could be wrong.
Just mentioning this
in case you’re looking at your logs. Also X-posting ![]()
If you continue to see this issue please share your PMS logs.
