I had one episode of a show that wouldn’t play sound, so I removed that episode and replaced it with one that does. However in Plex Server it plays the new one, but in Plex Player it plays the old one, even though the old one has been removed AT SOURCE. How is this even possible?!!!
Which client device are you playing from? It might be downloaded to the client (like iOS or Android) and it’s playing that file. You’re correct that if the file is deleted from the server it can’t be played by a client so there’s something else going on. On the client you can use “play version” option to make sure as well (different client devices do this a little differently but it’s typically in the overflow\”more” menu).
Ensure to trigger Analyze for this episode, after replacing a file while retaining the old file name.
There’s only one version and i’m only using the same client/player. I will try to trigger analyse! That might work. Honestly this is the most buggy software.
I swap files for the same title all the time (upgrading 480-720-1080-4k etc) and have duplicates all the time and never had this happen so it’s very much an oddity. The more specific you can provide the more likely someone might come up with an “ah ha” to help. So what client, the file naming\path, how you have your library scanning setup - all that stuff can sometimes pin it down.
