sounds like you forgot to perform step 2 of my first post. But first delete the .egg file I sent you.
So i did. So i first deleted the egg file, then installed apple script via terminal as per #2, restarted computer, still no ‘software’ menu option in Plex…
Mmm, sounds like your "[s]software[/s] application menu" is disabled. You can change this in your settings, just like you can disable weather etc. I'm not sure what the default option for [s]software[/s] application is/was. Mine was always enabled since I start the apple dvd player also from there.
Btw, if you're interested in some applescripts for iChat regarding automatic minimizing or maximizing plex or eyetv (if you have this program), let me know
I knew you were going to say that! :). So when it didn’t show up I went into preferences>skins (I use mediastream) and looked for software but it isn’t there. Only menu option I don’t have checked off is DVD.
Btw very interested in the scripts, thanks. I did modify the hulu launcher script into an iChat launcher script which works well. I appreciate the offer as well as your help on this.
Okay, found your problem... Try Applications instead of Software
I am using the dutch language and in the skin Mediastream the "Applications" item has been wrongly translated into Software.
So if you would translate the dutch version Software back to English, you would get Software...
Sorry for this. So now you should be set to try the videochat plugin. I'm very curious if it works for you. Let me know
Regarding the applescript software, I'll post my scripts when I find some time at home. Presently I'm at work.

Ah, i see videochat! so i select it and it brings me to a ‘browse for application’ popup? its not in the apps folder though
Do you have skype installed?
yes, both skype and ichat, although neither are running…do they need to be running?
The plugin should start both iChat and Skype in background if they are not running.
That’s very generous of you…i assume you are in Europe somewhere? we will have to coordinate times…anything I can look into? Can i uninstall the app, then reinstall?

I think I have skype issues… Tried installing the plugin, and all seems well, but I just see the Plex Media Sever pop saying waiting for response, for ages, and nothing happens.
I have to admit, I haven’t dug into your script yet, but I took a look at Console, and see a lot of these messages:

I’m guessing this means it’s trying to get the contact list from Skype and there’s some issue?

ok.. turns out I'm an idiot... my other half was already using that skype account from one of the skype phones. Seems that causes a problem with trying to get the contact list. Once she hung up, I tried again and it worked fine. (apart from plex staying minimised of course, but I knew about that)
