I want to play music throughout the entire house, and be able to control it from around the house! I have a receiver and amp capable of driving wired zones all throughout the house. What I need is the ability to play sources – local MP3 collection on PC, phone, DLNA server, etc – and control that from our phones (Windows Phone, Android, etc) I purchased the Pyle Wifi receiver, and I can get connected to it from both my WP and an Android device. However, the apps stink. Poor playlists, inconsistent, etc.
I discovered Plex! Available on everything it seems. Well done software! However, I’m not sure how to get it to connect to my receiver. The Pyle device is on the network. What do I need to do or what do I need to buy!
Cast from any plex client to any chromecast audio wherever you want. Only catch is you must have internet connectivity for it to work.
For this approach each set of speakers needs local amplification and a local chromecast. It is different to having one central system where all the speakers are connected and turning speakers on and off.
One great feature is the chromecast streams from your server to phone is only for control. So I can set it up however I want and leave the house it will still play the wife can come later and turn it off or change playlist.
Someone might confirm if its possible to output to 2 chromecasts at one time I’m not sure if this is possible.

It is also possible to use just one CCaudio and use the ‘controlling’ app of the existing audio setup

No, simultaneous casting to several targets is not possible in Plex.
Ok, so I got a Chromecast Audio. It works, and I can cast from Chrome browser on my PC to the CCAudio. However, I’m not sure what i’m supposed to be able to do from my Windows Phone or Android Phone. From my WP, I can’t seem to control the play. Shouldn’t it be able to act as remote control and see what’s playing and skip songs? I haven’t tried from my wife’s android, but I will today.

Make sure all those devices are connected to the same local network. If the mobile phone is not connected per WiFi but only to your mobile provider, it won’t work.
