QNAP TVS-872XT Best Practice drive setup

Hi all, NAS noob, I’m moving from a mac mini to the above Nas what is the best way to setup the following drives

2x 2TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD/Solid State

3x 8tb sata hdd

My thoughts were to have…

1x ssd dedicated for PMS and other apps (backup up daily to external drive or to a file on the raid)
1x ssd for caching
3x hdd in raid 5 for all media

What are your thoughts please?

Thanks in advance

Back up your raid to ext and let pms run cached.

Thanks for your quick reply. Is there a way to force the pms directory to remain in the cache Or is that not necessary?

There seem to be a few people having a dedicated ssd in their nas for plex and other program to run on. Is than not something you would do?

ChuckPa has posted on this, look for one of his posts, as I understand it Plex will load into cache if you have one and that will improve the meta data I think for Plex. It will not do anything for the movies themselves though if I understood his post correctly, was a while ago though.
