Queuing songs for playback - question on behavior

I can’t find the player version number, it’s the latest iOS version.

So when I take a music playlist and shuffle it, there may be times when I do not want to hear the song in the playlist ever again. But if I skip and then go to the song that I skipped over in the enqueued list, I’m just deleting it from the queue, not the playlist; correct? That seems to be the case.

That means that when I hate a song, I have to make a determined effort to find it in the playlist and remove it. The search function in iOS leaves much to be desired as far as searching for a particular song in a playlist, even if you are on the display of all the songs in the playlist.

Can someone confirm the behavior, and enlighten me if there are better ways to find a song in a playlist? (iOS would be preferable, but if I have to open the browser on a laptop, so be it.)
