RasPlex and HifiBerry - second round

Any chance on a comment from a developer? According the release notes, hifiberry integration has finally arrived. :-(

I think he's talking about the 0.5.1 release notes. It specifically mentions hifiberry. No big deal though. I think it should be an easy fix. We just need a reliable way to remove LIRC. When I boot with the dt-overlay, i get the "green light" on the board, so I know I'm getting power. Also, dmsg shows that the kernel recognises it. It's just a matter of getting rid of whatever's blocking.

Nothing is blocking it, the code to select the HiFiBerry as an Audio output is not there, that's what we're working on for the next release, part of the coding is in there just need to complete the work.

The intention is for all four models to be supported 'out of the box'.

Sounds good, looking forward to the next release…! Thanks

I just found out about the HifiBerry the other day and I'm excited that support is coming to RasPlex. I'm also glad I didn't buy it just to find out it wouldn't have worked yet!

slightly off topic, but for music is there a a difference in the quality of audio in using HDMI versus Hifiberry Digi with a good DAC receiver (burr brown 24-192)?  I'm wondering if the hifiberry digital version is worth it?  Rasplex supports 24-192 through HDMI and it seems to do the job well.

Depends on the dac in your amp I guess. Also the hb makes use of i2c which skips a lot of electronics in the pi which could cause noise.

Hi, any news on the hifiberry support in rasplex? Tnx

I am curious what all will the hifiberry through rasplex. 5.2 7.1? True HD so on and so fourth?
