Ever since PMS introduced their “Recently…” (Added, Released, etc.) lists when editing/adding library categories/displays, it’s been strange that PMS does not display them based on the “Library NAME”, instead PMS seems to display these by the “Library TYPE”
For example:
If someone has named their Library “USA Documentaries” and classed the library type as "Movies (for scrapping, etc.)…PMS then lists these in the “Recently…” section as “Recently Release Movies” or “Recently Added Movies” from the library TYPE not the library NAME.
This is just plain dumb…
They should be listed as “Recently Added …” Library NAME (not ‘type’) … eg “Recently Added USA Documentaries”…after all they’ve been added TO THAT LIBRARY, not the type.
PMS should at the very least allow admins to decide which to use - otherwise this feature is completely useless for the libraries one makes and adds to…
Yes, that only works for “Recently Added” but there is no difference to “Recently Released” if not merged (still showing the media TYPE, not the library NAME ie still shows “Recently Released …” as the media TYPE, not the library NAME,even when not merged).
Don’t know why this is ‘feature’ is so poorly designed…no-one cares about the media type when searching for something to watch, only which library the named media is found in…thus the library name its under.
I’m looking at my browser, and it shows “Recently added in Movies - Animated” for my “Movies - Animated” library.
I do recall somewhere seeing it declare the library TYPE rather than the name, but I don’t know where. Perhaps it’s client-based? Which client are you seeing this, and how do I get to that spot?
EDIT: I think I see what you mean. The Settings - Manage - Libraries pane, which lists your libraries. Clicking one of them gives me the checkboxes which allow me to choose which sub-category appears in the home, in the library’s home, and my friend’s homes. This does not capture the library name. But it’s not a common screen to sit on, and it works for me back in the actual home page, which is what matters most to me.
Try it with a library containing and named Documentaries…type = movies (those doco specials) and don’t merge libraries with recently released ones showing on the home screen… They’re not movies, yet classed as movie types for correct identifying via the scraper. Library names then become important
