I Today I made some tests and started the reroding of seven movies from seven different channels (out of my 12 channels). All recording has been aborted after 3 and 17 minutes after start. The follow-up time for alle recodings has been set to 30 minutes (what worked fine in the kast year).
The aborted recordings have been availible after the end of the movies. Here are the data of the movies:
1: Channel: 3Sat / start 10:05 / end 11:20 / recorded 7 minutes
2: ARTE / 11:20 / 11:50 / 18 minutes
3: ARD / 12:03 / 12:45 / 7 minutes
4: Sachsen / 10:15 / 12:45 / 7 Minutes
5: ONE / 12:25 / 13:10 / 3 minutes
6: ZDF / 13:05 / 13:10 / 2 Minutes
7: Neo / 09:55 / 11:25 / 17 minutes
The problem startet at the beginning of this year. Before I changed the EPG source it seemed that we had the problem only with one channel or intermittently. After changing to the new EPG source the problem is stable.
This is a problem many suffer with. My guess is that Plex prioritizes programming new features over making sure the DVR works as well as a Tivo, even though most of us pay them to have a reliable non-Tivo DVR in the first place.
I guess it’s a good thing that I have remained committed to NOT using the Plex DVR that I’ve paid for. For the most part, the Plex system is great for organizing and playing my video library and the TV I record into the Plex Library using another program.
But it’s just been a constant rotation of very serious problems with the paid features that I’ve tried – Android App, Sync and Live TV/DVR. When I describe to my friends the kinds of bugs, limitations and extremely flawed design in the Live TV/DVR, it’s hard to get my friends to even believe me – after all, no paid product could be that bad – but it is … sigh
