I’m trying out Plex DVR to see if I can make it family-friendly enough to get rid of Dish. That said, I’m noticing that recordings aren’t happening or result in a variety of errors. As a test, I turned on recording two programs at around 5:10PM my time and by 5:15PM both had stopped and “published” as completed to the WDMyCloud. One program had 15 minutes left, the other 45. Attached are the logs. I’m not sure what to look at but the tuner one did show an HTTP error around 5:15 so perhaps that’s related. Any guidance is appreciated.
Started another program… after a few minutes it stops. Tuner log shows the following:

i am getting error however my recordings stop right away
I have had intermittent issues also, one show stopped 30 minutes too early even though the guide and schedule had it down for an hour, one recorded massive amounts of infomercials during the time slot for Bonanza, which is always on at the same time and was scheduled correctly, I have gotten it to work for several days and then one recording fails and has the yellow exclamation point on it. not sure whats up really, I installed WinTV (after the fact) and used the signal monitor, every channel was well into the green with 0 errors at all. I have my antenna outside under the eaves running through a defunct coax right to the xbox tuner on my pc and the reception is perfect.
by any chance are you using the xbox tuner also? it may be an issue with the Hauppauge driver itself on that card, I tried it on another machine that already had a 2250 interal card also and it recognized it fin in WinTV and plex, however neither would scan channels, 0, and I just moved the usb cord I didn’t change the antenna setup. Didn’t like running that device alongside the 2250 card, I was under the impression multiple tuner devices should not be a problem at all and have even heard of people running multiple cards, but couldn’t find any search results for someone running an internal card and trying to add the 955q usb tuner to the setup as well.
just a thought, maybe its the tuner instability itself if you are trying to use the same device as I am
I’m running the HDHR Dual with an antenna connected directly to the router and then Plex on a Mac 5k (latest OS and Plex server PPass version), also wired. The files are stored on a WDMyCloud wired as well.
In addition to this recording issue, my Plex server is now crashing and I haven’t tried to figure that out yet.
Hauppauge is the best tuner on the market for pairing to a pc and not the network, but I have found bugs in some of their stuff, WinTV sometimes crashes for no reason, or a channel doesn’t change when requested it you get stuck on a channel with a disrupted signal. hmm, some things to work out I guess hope we find the answer to a perfect DVR experience without purchasing independent OTA DVR hardware
hmm odd, well I have tried using a WDMyCloud before, a nice big 6tb one, thought it would be awesome, it was unstable for me and I eventually liberated the drive from the WD caddy, infact ive wound up having to do this for every MyBook, ive ever owned, ive had 3 with failed electronics and got rocketfish enclosures and have been using the drives 3 times longer than they lasted in the MyBook, could be a failure on the cloud storage device, PMS might crash if its tied to that hardware and it keeps going offline or something like that. just a thought

Could be the WDMyCloud but I think the Plex server records on my local Mac HD before transferring it to the MyCloud after completion - I thought. The error in the log I posted seems to mention an HTTP issue in the tuner but I can’t interpret it. I have worried about the WDMyCloud though, thanks.
I went ahead and restarted the server (because it crashed early in the evening I guess) and just set things up to record an in-flight news program. Been going 10 minutes. We will see. There are two scheduled recordings coming up within an hour as well. My guess is the manual recording I have going will finish and then I’ll start to see spotty behavior again.
I didn’t see the write error up there, and truth be told I’m not the plex master at reading the logs, I have noticed that when I got a few exclamation errors on recordings, they mentioned that access was denied to the folder, and in my case this was a drive in my own machine. never checked my log, just kind of fumbling through it while its in beta hoping they will work the kinks out of it and it will work like a charm, you might try adding an empty new library to the local drive, schedule one recording to go to it directly and see if it records or fails right off

could be, ive deleted my library and restarted my box several times as im constantly transferring the files over to my main library on my machine with the unsupported tuner, I know ive had similar issues too, good luck getting them to stay recording, my guess is like me it will work for awhile, a few days or more and then run into a glitch again, that’s been my experience.
Looks like while the Plex is capturing, it does write the WDMyCloud under a .grab folder (hidden) in my TV Shows directory. Curious if that’s the failure I’m seeing. Trying to write to the drive and I get one hiccup?
This problem seems to have just gone away. Will update if it happens anymore.
–Problem continues… this is not the answer to this thread.
Plex is still crashing. I still see the tuner log error posted at the top of this thread in the latest crash, just before the crash. A recording stopped at the same time (on schedule though) right before the app was terminated and the crash report appears to have been sent. What else can I do to troubleshoot this?
I did accept the latest update to Plex in the last week and the issue isn’t partial recordings as much as Plex app just crashing on the Mac.
–If anyone can help me unapprove the accepted answer in this thread, I’d appreciate it.
