regular expression bug in Plex Music Scanner.py

I was wondering why Plex ended up giving all tracks of an album empty titles.

 

The problem is with this line in Plex Music Scanner.py:

 

      if track == None:
        # See if we have a tracknumber in the title and strip it.
        title = re.sub("^[0-9]{1,3}[ .-].+", '', title)
 
Note the red dot. This should probably be
 
      if track == None:
        # See if we have a tracknumber in the title and strip it.
        title = re.sub("^[0-9]{1,3}[ .-]+", '', title)
 
Otherwise, a title such as '11 - BOOTS' would be replaced with '' if the MP3 does not contain Track information. In addition, if this regexp matches, you may want to set 'track'.
 
My question: I noticed that even after I changed Plex Music Scanner.py to test my fix, Plex Music Scanner.py was restored by plex to the old, broken version. How do I prevent that?
 
How can I make changes to this scanner so I don't have to wait for another Plex release to index my music?

In order to prevent overwrites, make the bundle a symlink if your OS allows it. The updater will ignore symlinked bundles.

Didn't know there was github. (Plex is not open source, is it, so I assume the plex team pays for it?)  Do they also accept pull requests?

I was confused because the file Plex Music Scanner.py says:

and does not specify under which license the code is distributed.

might just be the "Plex, anyone with good ideas can contribute" license.
