Repeated Crashes

It keeps crashing. Started right after the last update I installed. Can you guys please fix this. I’m sure I’m not the only one experiencing this. Hope you guys push out a fix soon.

Please attach the full Plex for Windows Phone log and Plex Media Server.log and the crash report as text files or zip and not as screen captures

Did you check your plex media server log file to see if it’s the issue that we’re talking about in this thread? If it is, the IP address in that log should tell you what client might be involved in the crash. Then you can at least isolate and remove that client until the fix is made.

I know this may sound crazy but how do I go about finding the log file. So I can locate the client that is crashing my server. Please thanks

Thank you

Re the X-Plex-Token parsing error, the development team are unable to reproduce the problem. If either of you could enable diagnostics on the phone app and email the logs to yourself and try and get the crash and provide the logs from the phone app and the server - that would be much appreciated

See this support page for enabling Plex for Windows Phone diagnostics and emailing logs to yourself before uploading here with the server Plex Media Server.log at time of crash

I don’t have a windows phone that accessed the server unfortunately, my phone is android, but I would have had multiple possibilities from a variety of iOS devices and plex clients (and a couple of window 10 desktop apps)

It was a windows phone being used to access your server just before the crash

In case tokens are showing in the plex for Windows phone logs please zip and send to me by private message and I wil to the developer

Hey there…just reproduced the issue. Attached are the the PMS logs.

I will PM you the Windows Phone logs.

Note: This issue is happening just by having the Plex app installed on the phone. I didn’t even get a chance to launch Plex on the phone and it crashed my server. There must be a BG task on the phone that’s killing the server?

Thanks. They have now been passed to the development team

Yes, this would be consistent with the request type. This seems to be the background task which generates the live tiles. As a workaround for the moment, you could try disabling the live tiles in Settings/Interface.

@SpazShark
As suggested try to see if disabling live tiles on the Plex for Windows Phone app stops the crashes.

If crashes continue, please send me by PM fresh logs (server and phone) and do not restart the phone

If crashes stop, please try and get it to crash again by re-enabling the live tiles and get me fresh logs (without restart of the phone) - the logs we had before had a gap for the time when the server crashed.

Ok here’s the new log files from PMS. I got the issue to happen at about 9:45 - 9:46 pm EST. Live tiles were enabled and when they were not enabled I didn’t seem to have any issues.

I’ll PM you the Windows Phone logs.

You have now been given access to a special build of the Plex for windows phone app to see if it makes a difference when live tiling is enabled

if the crashes remains with the new version please provide fresh logs

thanks

The special build has now been released as Plex for Windows Phone version 2.1.4.19 with the potential fix for the problem of corrupt requests sent to Plex Media Server when live tiling is enabled

Yep - just sent you a PM. Running 2.1.4.19 and no crashes yet!

Hi
Adding to this thread to keep discussion together.

I have the same messages (WinPhone not matched by platform plugin and Error - Parsing request failed and Had trouble breaking X-Plex-Token ) in the server.log and plexserver 0.9.16.6 stops working frequently. The biggest difference is that my Win Phone is running the latest app 2.1.4.19.

I restarted WinPhone and Win10 with Plex server, however the server keeps on crashing. Any steps I missed to get the set up working smoothly again? For now swithced off live tiles to see how long it takes before the next crash.

Thanks in advance.

Please could you get the Windows phone app logs and server plex media server, log at time of crash with debug and verbose logging enabled.

Once you get me that, you can disable live tiles on the Windows phone app and that should stop the crashes - if they were caused by the Windows phone app.

Thanks for the logs earlier on - I understand now that whilst trying to get matching evidence (logs from both the phone app and the server for same time period) and toggling live tiling off and on several times - that the problem has now gone away and you are now using version 2.1.4.19 and live tiling enabled and no crashes.

May be it needed some corrupt buffers to get flushed
