Plex Keeps Crashing

Server Version#:1.21.3.4014
Windows 10 OS Build 18363.1316

My plex media server keeps shutting off. If I’m watching something, it wont interrupt what I’m watching. It seems to happen when I open it to browse for something to watch. but I dont think its ever interrupted a show.Plex Media Server Logs_2021-02-06_22-17-31.zip (5.0 MB)

I uninstalled both the plex media server and plex for windows and reinstalled the newest versions today. But plex keeps turning off.

attached is the logs.

Seems like this a new version released just now — 4015

maybe it fixes it Media Server Downloads | Plex Media Server for Windows, Mac, Linux, FreeBSD and More

i dont see 4015, i only see 4014… am I missing something?

Ive reinstalled the newest version twice and it still crashes. I even went and looked at the DLL files and didnt find any matches. Can someone examine my debugging logs?

4015 is for Plex Pass only. Beta release

oh ok the 4015 is only for pLex pass users. ok.

About my plex crashing…What can I do?

The only errors I see are associated with SSDP but they’re not in the proximity of the crashes

what does that mean?

It means I can’t see anything obvious.

here is another log that has had more crashesPlex Media Server Logs_2021-02-07_12-34-02.zip (5.0 MB)

The only thing I would add is that I highlighted SSDP because the recent hotfix pushed out to address a possible network exploit was SSDP related. It may be unrelated but it’s worth mentioning. If you’re still having problems next step would be to escalate to Plex techs.

how do I contact plex techs?

Before getting down that road… how about describing in some more detail what you’re experiencing. I’m not really sure I understand what you mean by your server is shutting down. What are you browsing (and from what app) and what exactly is happening?

You were chatting with Tom in another thread I believe. Start there.

I downoaded Plex Media Server and Plex App for Windows. To start it, I double click on Plex media server icon and it appears in my little icon tray…not sure what its called, but that little box that shows you what is running. So then I’m able to see all my libraries and stuff.
Now whatever is happening…it wont interrupt a movie or show that I’m watching. Once I’m watching something it will continue to play. But once I stop watching something, at some point, when I’m browsing through my movies(on my tv via plex app), it’ll start ‘thinking’ where that circle just keeps trying load and I’ll look at my computer and on the plex web app I’ll try to click on my library and it gives me that message that says the server is not available…I forget the exact words. i’ll look in my computer app tray and I’ll see the medai server icon is gone. I’ll try to start it again and sometimes it comes right back on and sometimes i’ll only come on for a minute before the icon disappears again and my libraries are no longer available.
Im not running any other apps that I know of.
I’ve looked at my windows firewall settings to make sure Plex is allowed.
I’ve unlnstalled and reinstalled it twice. (and restarted)

maybe I’m missing something but I dont know. I’ve never had this problem before

I have a movie library and a tv show library and when I click on tv shows it’ll just spin and spin trying to load and when It dont I’ll look at my computer and see that the media server isn’t running. But once I play something, i’tll continue to play without interruption.

Are you able to access the library in the first place when you start the playback or are you starting that from some imitier place (e.g. the on deck / continue watching sections of the start page)?
Trying to understand if your server goes down every time you try to open the library page of your tv-show library or only occasionally). Also… to be sure… does this happen with both libraries or only when you try to open the tv-show library?

Edit: bonus question… do you get the same issue when accessing the library page using a different Plex app (e.g. using http://app.plex.tv/desktop or the Plex player on your phone/tablet/tv)?

Also on 4014 - upgraded on Saturday morning and the system was unstable with constant loosing of connection to the server, but again it wouldn’t interrupt playback. I restarted the windows virtual machine it runs on a few times yesterday, when just restarting plex didn’t seem to resolve the issue - but that didn’t work either.

This morning everything seems fine so far…

It happens on both my TVs (amazon fire stick & Roku streaming stick Plex apps) and on my computer (plex.tv desktop.

I’ll turn on my tv
Amazon fire stick home screen
click on Plex
It starts me off on the PLex home page where it shows what I watched recently, but when I toggle down to my tv show library it spins and spins. I dont recall if I tried movies first or not when it crashed…

It dont do it everytime. Sometimes I’m able to reach what I want to watch and start it playing.
Sometimes I’m able to navigate in and out of shows/movies for hours.
Then it’ll turn off and sometimes I can start it right back up with no problem and it’ll stay on.
Sometimes when I try to restart it, it’ll stay on for 30 to 45 seconds before shutting off again. Yesterday I couldn’t get it to stay on, I tried over and over. Then later when I tried, it stayed on all night till morning.

I’m at work now. Later, when I’m at home, whenever I try to watch something, i’ll keep a log of what i did and in what order every time it crashes to try to narrow this down.

mines is crashing about 5-6 times a day.
