don’t know what is going on but i am running the latest plex server on HTPC… i don’t have a whole lot of media (HTPC media points to a NAS on the network) and Media scanner keeps hitting the NAS (reads) for hours at a time and i have less than 500 movies/shows.nothing on the NAS has changed and i haven’t added any media in more than a week.
right now the HTPC has CPU usage between 20-30% and pulling 350-500mbit/s reads from the NAS. the scanner has been running for hours already…
4 hours it’s still chewing… i solved the problem… disabled Plex media scanner service. have a look Kodi source code for tips =)). it runs quick and performance is great.
Try turning off Video thumbnail generation in PMS Library settings and set your Scheduled tasks to a time that use generally don’t use plex for Entertainment. I use 8am -10am, works a charm.
