Restrict 4K content

The OP does not want to do this

OP wants just one library to rule them all. No switching back a fourth from one library to the next, scrambling trying to find a movie “was it a 4K or was it 1080p, can’t remember” type of thing. I can see the aggravation the OP has cause I have a 4K library and a 3D library and I do the same thing. And the saddest part about this, is I only have 1 movie in each library and I still can’t remember what movie is in what library!!! So sad…

Kind of yes and no. I’m OK with the idea, having a library I see that includes 4K, and a different library that only has the 1080p versions. But in practice, with the size of my libraries, it would take weeks to fully recreate “new” folders for TV Shows and Movies, stuff like that. I just really don’t want to spend the time on that, even though that would solve my problems, and honestly would be easier to control, so I can choose who gets to see the high quality content.

I MIGHT bite the bullet and just do it. Unless somebody can think of something else that is less time consuming! Lol

YES. It would make life so much easier. But like I said, I have retarded friends who don’t understand. They say “Hey, Red Sparrow seems broken, I can’t stream it”… I’m like “Is it 4K? Yeah? Then pick the damn 1080p version!” Sorry, frustrations, lol.

Not sure if this was already suggested:
You could split the 1080p and 2160p into to seperate entries in the same library, give the 2160p a 4k tag and exclude the other people from the 4k tag.
If you browse and see two entries you know that one of them is 2160p (you can mark them also I guess).
Disadvantage is additional maintenance, advantage is that you achieve what you want, more or less

This is true also. And definitely a thought. Would probably work better than a lot of the other options, but then I have to still do extra work when going to watch stuff on my end. But might be worth it…

I would just block myself from the 1080p versions, since I would always want the 4K version also, but then I have to think of Harry Potter 1-2. The extended versions don’t exist in 4K… Lol. Ugh, this sucks.

Man, we really need [Very Popular] Multiple Cuts Of Movie, lol!

“There is no thing like a free lunch” or as we say in german “you have to die one death”
So currently you need to invest work it seems, creating a dedicated 4k library involves putting the movies in the respective folders, while “my” approach requires to properly split and tag them.
You choose what suits you most.
