I just updated because I feel like I needed to due to you guys having this completely idiotic DDOS bug in Plex, and now I’m back to this nonsense. Currently watching a fire tv client transcode to MP3. WHY WHY WHY WHY!!! Fix this crap!
I am going to half take back what I said. My Roku is fixed but NOW my Firestick is suffering from the exact same problem… which was never a problem previously for me. What’s more originally I would get Direct Play on both video and audio. It now does this:

You couldn’t make it up. ![]()
Can we just get an overall fix so Plex never uses MP3 for a movie transcode regardless of client???
@ljunkie any update from the relevant team for this regarding Android?
Like others in the thread I’m still seeing times when audio is being transcoded to MP3 and this use to be something that never happened in the past. If surround sound (AC3 or DTS) were being transcoded to stereo, AAC would be used, which is the better choice over MP3. With the latest updates for Roku, I have stopped seeing this happen on those devices.

Any updates here Plex? I am still seeing FireTV devices transcoding to MP3.
Are we really going to have to raise an endless stink about each and every client with this issue instead of you guys just doing an overall fix so that NO CLIENTS USE MP3? MP3 is a stupid format to be transcoding to period. You need to disable that at all if you can’t figure out how to get it to stop happening.
Checking in again. LG clients still transcoding to MP3.
My firestick is still transcoding to MP3… The audio sync is therefore atrocious at certain points. My Roku appears to be OK at the moment.
To add to this as I have found it is a little more specific… I will only see the transcoding down to MP3 on my firestick if a transcode happens on the video down to 720p. If there is no transcode, it all direct plays.
