Ya that’s it. Rokus a no go for me. The same UI is on the Xbox. It’s terrible. And aside from it being ugly it’s not functional at all if you have more than like 50 movies. Scrolling left to right, ugh.

Are you sure that’s what you saw? To me this lookes like the same interface I get on my Windows installation of PMP:

It’s the same main page, not sure of the library page. If the library screens browse left to right like Xbox it’s junk. I believe the current releases PMP uses this same UI unless it’s been changed. My understanding was PMP hasn’t grabbed the newer UI yet either.
Anything that functions like windows tiles needs to go haha

I guess I’m used to this PMP, full-screen layout but I do bristle at the lack of things like program guide when in that view…
I like the extra features that the installation on my laptop has which should be the same program, but somehow has more features like the program guide and many more options. I think it’s related to “full screen” as opposed to desktop mode. I never really dug into why there was a difference.

I just checked on the Roku forum, still same crappy horizontal scrolling. It looks like they did fix PMP, guess they don’t care to fix Xbox or Roku as it’s been 2+ years lol. Ah well, Apple TV for now it is.

I’m still trying to understand PMP. The view changes depending on what “mode” it’s in…full screen or desktop. By fullscreen I mean “10 foot view”.
I can use it on my laptop and basically do everything including settings as if I were accessing the server via the web app. In fact it looks like the web app when in desktop mode. For some reason the SAME program, installed on my living room HTPC (but in full screen mode) looks like what you are seeing on the Roku.
How did they get the DVR functionality in it if the interface is the same? Supposedly that’s in the Roku app now.
I use the HDHRviewer channel for my live TV integration into plex.
Not a typical guide but more traditional than the native integration. This allows me to stream remotely as well.
I use FireTV gen 1’s, FireTV gen 2’s and nVidia shield pro 2015’s all of which have been rock solid for me.
My opinion is the Shield is far superior in the media streaming device department.
I do not like the UI of the Roku (just my opinion though). My aunt to whom I gave the box after not liking it, LOVES it probably due to the ease of use.

Is that HDHRviewer channel made by Plex? I’ve never heard of it. Is there a link?
Be sure to update to the latest release though.

So this is only for Roku or any Plex installation?
This channel gets installed on the server and your clients connect to it
and stream the live TV
