When playing stereo content on a Headless Rpi through HDMI to my Marantz AVR, the output is fixed at 5.1… although Plexamp outputs 2 channels, the other 4 channels on HDMI output are muted. This prevents any surround processing on my receiver from working properly.
I have tried multiple Pis (Zero 2W, 3, & 4) and they all exhibit this behavior. When using other software on these same Pi units (i.e. Kodi, OSMC) 2 channel content through HDMI is only output as 2.0.
How can a headless Pi be configured to properly output stereo content as 2.0 over HDMI?
