rPi Plexamp release audio device when no file is playing

Thanks for the kind words, and I appreciate all that you did to hack up a working solution before we were able to get to it natively, and I don’t want to take away from the skill that required. Really impressive!

The integration of another service is … tricky. It requires desire on both ends and APIs and such.

Thank you, I really appreciate the compliment

I understand stuff like 3rd party integrations like that isn’t up to just you. It’d be cool if it happens but if it doesn’t I’m not going to complain.

Can confirm that this is working properly, which is great because I can also keep a shairport-sync running on the pi for non-Plex/BT streaming playback.
Also very glad about about the decision of sticking with ALSA.
Great job!

How exactly does this work? I have the latest beta and plexamp is running besides shairport-sync. It seems to have worked once but now shairport doesn’t seem to release the audio card anymore any hints?

If I’m understanding your problem correctly that would be a problem with shairport-sync. I don’t use that piece of software so I can’t give you any solutions but you might want to google something along the lines of “shairport-sync on rpi wont release audio device” and see if you come up with anything.

You might want to consider looking at the documentation to see if there is any configuration setting you need to change.

Yeah I am on that, haven’t had any luck yet but I’ll keep looking.

Edit: Seems to work fine now again. Strange.
