SACD Ripping and 2ch and Multi-Channel copies

I’m finally able to rip my SACDs and some have both a 2ch and Multi-Channel version. I’d like to include both of those in Plex. I don’t see any way to differentiate between the two in any sane manner. I can do a folder for “Pink Floyd” for the artist, then I would need to make 2 subfolders, one for stereo and one for multi-channel. When viewing the library, though, there’s no distinction without having to put a modifier in the album title (at the beginning since the end is cut off on longer names). This doesn’t seem like the best solution.

Are there any good solutions for this?

Also, Plex on AppleTV, Chrome Web App, and PlexAmp show (at best) that it is a DSD file (at worse, no info at all). There’s definitely no indication if it is a 2ch mix or a multi-channel mix except viewing the “Get Info” from the ellipses menu on the individual track listing on the web player.

Player Version#: 4.108.0

Unfortunately there isn’t.

This is the only way to do this in a Plex music library.

The truth is, surround music is still a niche thing. Unless there is a substantial portion of Plex users requiring better support for this, it will very likely not materialize.

DSD music is even more niche, so you will usually have transcoded playback in Plex. The best you can achieve is the internal conversion from DSD to PCM in Plexamp.
But a true DSD-only signal path is nearly impossible. (albeit it only makes sense if you actually have a DSD-capable DAC)

Thanks, that’s what I’m afraid of. Even back when I was buying a bunch of SACD/DVD-A, it never got popular. I started running out of stuff to buy and ended up with a few Spyra Gyra albums even just because they were multi-channel SACD. It is a shame because it is so enjoyable to listen to. For now, I’ve just been making 2 collection tags, one for stereo HD, and another for multi-channel HD so I can go into a collection of either one and sort from there. Not the best solution, but with what I’ve got to work with, I think it will probably work. SACDExtract creates folders with “[mutli]” or “[stereo]” at the end if there’s both for one disc, so I’m just leaving the album names with the modifier at the end and then setting the tags when I confirm by file path which one is the 2ch or multi-channel version. I have a Sony STR-DN1080 receiver which I believe is able to play DSD directly (it has a DSD Native option), but I’ve not got my surrounds setup at the moment, so I’m having to use neural:X stuff to compensate for my paltry 3.1. I might have to end up enabling DLNA on plex and play the dsf files directly from the receiver to get the “purest” form, but I honestly doubt I’ll be able to tell the difference. I appreciate the higher quality but there’s a limit for my ears. I really do enjoy the 5.1 mixes though, they are something else
