First of all, tought it started by having trouble only with file that have 5.1 sound. I wasn’t able to read them on my Tivo Roamio plus, T6 (serie 5)
I did many reaseach, modify the HTML TV App.xml by replacing aac with ac3, re-adding aac while keeping ac3.
Modify so many option in plex server and Tivo plex reader thru each forum that has hint of solution and still having the timeout issue (video did not start in time) while trying to read a file with 5.1… update seems to applies to general transcoding.
Sorry can’t remember them all but writing the major ones.
Also tried to convert file in Plex to lower quality but since it keeps the 5.1 audio stil dont work.
All other files (HD, SD) are working great as long they aren’t 5.1.
I decided to try a SD file with 5.1 on my Tivo Mini and worked like a charm and without transcoding (direct play on image and sound).
Just in case that help i also tried a file with 5.1 that needed transcoding (audio to ac3 and video) and it going smooth on Mini.
I haven’t found any forum that seems to describe that kind of specific problem.
Do they use the same profile?
Is there a difference between main Tivo and secondary Tivo?
Could i have a made a modification that apply only to the 1st Tivo added and the 2nd one got something more generic?
I disconnected Roamio from plex server and restart the pairing process from scrath and stilll same issues.
I made sure both Tivo have the same setting in both (h264 was 4.0 on mini and 4.1 Roamio… tried it at 4.0 just in case)
The tv for each have different max resolution: Roamio 1080p and mini 720p… could that influence something? i doubt cuz Tivo seeem to be max 720p anyway.
**Only difference in setting option is that Roamio has “allow fallback to insecure connection” this option doesn’t even show on Mini. Tried all 3 option in there anyway and still same problem.
On chrome plex server i see in the dashboard that Roamio has a secure icon while playing but not Tivo mini.
to be honest, i have read many forum asked to provide logs files with many test… i still had read those trying to figure out how to apply those solution to my situation… but quite franckly im not sure i will do that… i just started to use plex cuz my DLNA reading devide died, tried plex cuz my Tivo halready had it, i just spent last 2 days trying to make it work on main Roamio… not sure will still have great patience… might just buy a new DLNA reader.
But on bright side i found Plex way better than my old dlna reader… but kind of exauted trying.
While writing i continued some test on different file i used a HD720 file 2.0 audio (original 720p, 3Mbps) and converted to lower quality (mobile 720p,2Mbps)
The 2Mbps read perfectly on Roamio but if i use the 3Mbps got time out error.
On mini the original 720p, 3Mbps is playing thru transcoding, the mobile 720p,2Mbps is playing in direct mode.
It seems clear that even 2.0 audio file that need transcoding works only on Mini and never on Roamio.
I cant find a file the works on Roamio if it need transcoding. So it has to be a transcoding problem that applies only to Roamio and not to Mini for same file starting for same Plex server.
Im short on idea on how to assure that they both use the same transcoding protocole or what ever other difference applies to only one of them.
Any idea on how to resolve my problem… i know i will probably have to provide some log file just help me to know exactly what needed and not really sure how to provide those just yet.
