Hello,
I have an issue with audio transcoding from DTS to AAC on my both new Samsung TV. In the past I thought that the problem was with my older weaker QNAP NAS, I bought Synology DS920+ and the problem is the same.
I tried everything on server site, on client site and without success.
But issue related to .srt subtitles which are merged in my MKVs - if I manually switch off subtitle, audio is transcoded correctly without buffering, if I .srt subs switch on, the movie start buffering.
I don’t understand why Plex do this - try to burn text subtitle when is audio transcoded when I have this option set to „never“ and if the audio is played directly (eac3, ac3) text subtitles are played directly too.
Is any way how to fix it? (for example change anything in any config file or something like that?
Transcode the video is not the way - video transcoding is quality killer.
Same for me, just buy a brand new Samsung QE85QN85B Neo QLED 2022 with Plex for samsung 5.52.3 and tyzen 6.5
The Audio transcoding start and this will not play correctly, so i investigate.
Previously, this was played directly without transcoding on my last QE82Q70R QLED, with the same video file but with Plex for samsung 5.52.3 tyzen 5
Samsung should play AC3, it is weird. Is you audio clear AC3 or TrueHD/Dolby Atmos with AC3 core? Audio transcoding itself is not a problem, problem is why it this case are subtitles burned to video stream and movie is buffering. This must be some Plex issue.
On my Synology is working HW acceleration which is able to transcode videos but not in this case.
With this issue helps only turn off subtitles at this moment - and it is possible but not tested by me - use subtitles which is not muxed in container, I will try it tomorrow.
Do these video files have more than one audio track?
If that is the case, is always the first audio track selected for playback?
Selecting anything but the first one can change the playback mode from Direct Play to Direct Stream.
And if you have Direct Stream and you have to transcode the audio track, subtitles will usually get burned in, because the synchronicity between audio and video can otherwise not be guaranteed.
How big is the total number of audio and subtitle tracks in the affected video file(s)? Is it 30 or more?
Yes, it has more than one audio track - in my case has every movie 2 audio tracks - czech and original and big part of movies has czech forced subtitles for not dubbed dialogs and for inscriptions. In total I guess hundreds movies has DTS audio tracks - czech or original, I have arround 2 000 movies on my server and in the past most of movies had DTS original track.
I don’t think so that there should be a problem with synchronicity of audio and subtitles because in my case are all tracks synchronize not with mkvmerge but they are synchronized befor muxing of all tracks.
So solution at this moment is turn off subtitles but it is not good because than I am losing information from forced subtitles. For me it is not a big problem because I speak english but my wife not and there’s nothing worse than a dissatisfied woman…
This has nothing to do with your files.
It is a precaution which is taken by the server, because some smart TVs have shown synchronicity issues in the past when playback happens under this particular set of circumstances.
Yes when the video is playing obviously.
I have the Frame 2020 with that tiny remote where I have to press the four color dots button and navigate on screen to INFO. I guess with the full remote just pressing the INFO button works the same.
